Melani blinked slowly for a few times as if waking up, and Kale watched her imploringly, as if expecting her to lie back down. When she didn't, he huffed a big sigh and started pawing at the edge of the bed, too small to climb up by himself but wanting something soft to sleep on.

Kimi's face softened at Kale, and he reached forward to lift him up, Kale quickly settling down on the end of the bed.

"I wouldn't mind going outside for a bit, later on," Liam said quietly. "If the weather stays nice and Sophie is up for it."

Amara smiled at Kale watching him before leaning forward and fixing part of the blanket over him.

"I think she would really like that. Maybe a nice walk or something would be good."

"He sleeps a lot," Kimi noted quietly, and looked up when Melani stretched and then shifted with a murmured, "He's not got a pack, so at that young he's just trying to adapt."

"Well, how long does that take?"

"It could take a few weeks yet. He'll sleep as he tries to figure out how to act properly without a pack to guide him." Melani ruffled Kale's ears gently and yawned again as she left the room, Kale watching her with hooded eyes.
