Astrid just shook her head and looked over her shoulder, locking eye contact with Dexter when she spotted him in the window. Silently pleading for him to come outside, shoulders trembling as she held back tears.

Dex just opened the door and stepped out in silence, wrapping his arms around Astrid. "Don't worry about me Astrid. If going back to him makes you happy... That's all I want. You happy. You smiling. You knowing you are loved and wanted. Do whatever makes you happy, don't worry about how I feel."

Astrid shook her head in the negative, burying her face in Dexter's shoulder and sobbing an almost incoherent, "No... Go away, Kol, I said no. You broke my heart, go away.. You're too late, go away. Stop doing this to me, please. Dexter make him stop, it hurts.. It hurts so much, make him stop."

Dex just picked Astrid up and held her close to him.

"You better fucking take care of her or I'll rip your heart out." Kol hissed, voice breaking.

"It's all I've ever done. She needed a lot of taking care of, a lot of love and devotion and kindness, appreciation, after what you put her through. And I intent to take care of her until she no longer wants it, because that's what this woman, this incredibly remarkable woman deserves." Dex said curtly before carrying Astrid inside and up to the guest room where they were staying and resting her on the bed.

Astrid physically winced when she heard Kol's voice break, sobbing into Dexter's shoulder once they were upstairs, "Now he's made me out to be the one that isn't hurt, now he's acting like his the victim in all of this." she cried.

Adam grimaced at hearing the commotion, wandering outside and just pulling his father into a hug.
