Hunters and the Hunted

"The others are getting antsy. A psychic has never lived this long and it's scaring them."

Aria rubbed her neck where the wound had been quietly. "It would be my fault if they were..."

Scarlet was lying on hers and Ians bed, Cole lying with her.

Rachel was sitting on the stairs of hers and Kais place.

Sirius was in his piano room.

Scareth was watching his father play.

Rosco was playing his flute in his and Fayes room.

Jess was sitting in Deaths library.

Ian was soon stood in the doorway, watching them with a fond smile.

Kai was snoozing on the living room sofa arm sprawled over his eyes.

Tuesday was with Aria in the lounge, quietly brushing her hair out because it was getting too long for Aria to handle alone.

Faye was resting on her stomach on her bed, listening to him play quietly

Death was in the library, working quietly at the desk available.

Scarlet had fallen asleep next to the sleeping baby.

Rachel walked to Kai and watched him.

"Why aren't you and mum speaking?"

"You both know why." Sirius told him as he played.

Rosco looked at her as he played.

Jess looked over at him.

Ian walked in to kiss their foreheads individually before tucking them under the covers.

Kai was twitching gently as if dreaming, hand clenching and loosening.

"Do you want it cut?" Tuesday asked quietly.

"No...Scareth said that he likes it as it is."

"You don't have to listen to him all the time of follow his instuctions to the letter. You're his girlfriend not his servant."

"I like it too," Aria said quickly.

"I can see Alarick today..." Faye sighed quietly. "A soft hum at the back of my mind."

Death murmured something as one of his angels appeared to whisper in his ear.

Scarlet stirred slightly.

Rachel watched him.

Scareth appeared. "Thanks for assuming that id let her be my slave mother.'

"That's good news isn't it?"

Jess moved to sit on her knees.

Ian sat just on the edge as he noticed her waking up, gently stroking her hair.

Kai twitched a handful more times before he suddenly bodily jolted and woke up.

"I wasn't implying that at all."

"Its okay Scareth. I understand. It's just...habit sometimes. Because of my father." Arias smile was weak and strained. "I'm trying to be independent. Sorry if it's not working." She moved her hand absently to rest on Lucy's hair, since she was sleeping, curled up with her head on Arias lap since they were both sat on the floor.

Death suddenly and violently snapped the angels neck, sending the body up in flames with a wave of his hand before he continued working, the ash disappearing as quickly as it disappeared.

Jess shuffled back slightly.

"At least he is alive."

Scareth raised an eyebrow, exactly the way his dad did before he decided to change the subject slightly. "Go and speak to dad, before I drag one of you by any bit of your anatomy over to the other."

Rachel.was.by now straddleing his lap. "Easy Kai, easy."

Scarlet opened her eyes.

"Disparaging comments. Don't worry."

"He's alive," she agreed quietly.

"Maybe when he's less angry with me," Tuesday muttered, dragging the brush gently through Aria's hair once more before setting the brush to the side and standing, quickly leaning to stroke Lucy's hair.

"Sorry, sorry..." Kai dropped his arm back over his eyes, breathing heavily.

"Sleep well?" Ian leaned over her to kiss her gently.

"Don't make me drag you." Scareth told her.

"I'm not."

He put his flute down and held a hand out to her. "Come here."

"What's the matter Kai?"

She kissed him back just as soft as she nodded.

"I doubt he wants to see me that much."

"You appeared worried or frightened at the execution."

Faye let out a shaky breath before reaching out towards him.

"Pretty bad dream. Nothing important."

"Good." Ian brushed his knuckles gently against her cheek.

She smiled softly sy him.

"Tell me about it."

He slid his arms around her and pulled her onto his lap.

"Well it was a bit sudden."

"That's it I'm dragging you." Hr looked at Ariam "One sec." He grabbed Tuesdays wrist and dragged her into Sirius piano room where he was playing the piano. "Right, you two are going to talk this out, because obviously being apart isn't doing either of you any favours. Oh and you're not leaving this room until you've talked."

"Want me to get you a drink or anything?"

"Don't really want to talk about my death, y'know?"

Faye tucked herself against him, holding onto his shirt.

"It occasionally happens. Especially if they threaten bodily harm to those I would wish to protect."

"Don't be so childish Scareth. I'm pretty sure we can talk by ourselves with our own terms without me getting dragged like a piece of luggage." Tuesday snatched her wrist away from him.

"No you won't, because your both too fucking stubborn."

"What or who did they threaten?"

He kept her close.

"Sorry..."

"No thank you, but another kiss would be nice."

Tuesday sighed, gave up, and threw herself into the nearest armchair.

"They made a less than savoury comment of yourself and then asked when the death of the psychic would take place."

Faye mumbled a thanks and kissed under his jaw.

Kai waved a hand dismissively. "S'fine."

Ian moved to kiss her gently again.

She kissed him deeply.

"Anyway, I have something to tell you."

He kissed her lips to tell her that she was welcome.

"Ok..."

"Thank you." He left the room locking them in and Sirius went back to playing the piano, playing the song that he had written fir Tuesday all them year asgo.

Ian tangled a hand in her hair gently as he kissed her back.

Faye smiled weakly and kissed him back.

"Was there anything you wanted to do today then?"

Tuesday curled herself up, feet tucked up under her body and settled herself down quietly, eyes closed as she listened.

Aria was still in the lounge with Lucy, since Lucy was still sleeping on her lap.

Sirius didn't do anything, he just played.

He gently peppered kisses on her neck.

"Not really, since you'll probably have to leave soon."

"So who's turn is it to apologise this time then?" Tuesday asked, sounding almost bitter.

Aria smiled up at him, resting her hand on the side of Lucy's head.

Ian leaned away. "Come on. You should get out of bed."

Death stared at her incomprehensibly, clearly not understanding what the gesture meant.

Faye tilted her head and relaxed slowly.

"Why do you say that? Got nowhere to be today as far as I know."

Jess looked at him. "Not really, since you'll probably have to leave soon."

Rachel took one of his hands and resred it on her stomach.

Rosco kissed the top of her head

"Why?" scarlet asked him.

Scareth smiled back.

"Is there much point? We appologised last time, but you still insisted on getting that bastard involved again, and once again you didn't discuss it with me to see if there was anything that I could do."

"Not today. All inside work." Death scribbled something else.

Kai moved his other hand to her waist, rubbing his thumb against her hip bone.

Faye rest her head quietly on his shoulder.

"To leave our wee baby sleep before we scar him for life?" Ian teased quietly.

"Did you argue with your mother?" Aria asked quietly, mindful of volume because of Lucy.

"Its kind of hard to find an alternative with a knife to your throat," Tuesday muttered. "It was a do or die situation. I would have consulted you if I could have gotten to you. I couldn't. I learned from my mistakes though. He's in a binding time constriction. They like contracts, what he is. Alarick back in four months or Blood suffers for it."

"so you're planning to stay at your desk all day?"

Rachel looked at him, wondering if he knew what she was trying to tell him.

He kissed Faye on the top of her head.

Scarlet smiled and stood.

"You're my wife, our mind connection should be strong, you've always used it to talk to me and not once did you tell me what was happening. The fact that I don't know what's going on with our own children anymore is hard enough, but now I feel like I'm not good enough for you for anything and not just in keeping our family whole and safe." He didn't look at her, he just stood and walked to the door, despite Scareths power he was determined to break it and he soon did. "I've told you this before, but now I'm sticking to it, if you want him around without consulting me or trying to tell me, like a husband and wife should, then for as long as he is hanging around pip won't be here." He pulled open the door and left.

"Not all day, no. That would be inappropriate and counter productive."

Kai was still half asleep and so didn't understand what she was implying.

Faye twitched gently at something, mumbling quietly to herself.

Ian quietly offered her his hand.

Tuesday silently tucked herself up tighter on the armchair, taking in a slow deep breath and quietly swallowing a sob.

Sirius stopped at the front door, before he pulled it open and left, sliding his jacket on as it slammed shut.

Rosco looked down at her.

"Kai close your eyes and concentrate on what you feel." She knew that he would be able to feel the baby move if he done as she asked.

She rolled her eyes at his bluntness.
