She replied before giving a nod in response to his suggestion, "If the Lord Lucian allows me to ride one of his geldings I think that would most likely be for the best."

"I get a warm bed, good food, suitable clothing, I do a job I enjoy and I get silver on the side your grace, most stable hands only get a place to stay and scraps from the table, my masters are more than generous and kind to me." Leo said quietly, before looking toward Lucian. "My lord, if it is pleasing to you I would saddle up Dancer, as he is the quietest of your geldings and the most suitable for the Princess, as her own mare appears to be at fault for the moment."

Lucian just nodded at that, and Leo went to saddle up a fleabitten grey gelding.

Lilliana opened her mouth to respond but just shook her head instead and watched him saddle up the gelding, remaining silent.

Leo stepped back once the gelding was saddled, looking him over and double checking before leading him out of the stall and towards Lilliana.

"Thank you," Lilliana replied, taking the reins off of Leo and getting up onto the gelding. "Assuming you will be here when we return I will ask you how my mare is doing, her name is Grace if you wish to know,"

"Thank you, Leo, it is much appreciated." She replied with a smile before moving her gaze over to Lucian. "I am ready for whenever you lead the way, Lord Lucian."

Lucian nodded, waiting until his own horse was saddled before getting on and heading out, gesturing for her to follow.

Clicking her tonguw gently she encouraged the gelding forward, following behind him.

"Leonardo is a good stableboy, your mare will be right in a flash if there is anything he can do about it. He serves us well, you have no need to fear about the care of your horses, your grace." Lucian told her gently as he headed out.

"Your sister spoke well of him too," She replied with a small nod, "Though, due to previous experience with others' stablehands and the worth of my mare I will not be able to believe it until the proof is in front of me."

"He would not dare harm her, your grace. He knows we would drain him if he were to do that, and he has a love of horses, he would not damage her."

"Do you also employ his wife?" She asked curiously, "As a seamstress possibly? Or does she stay at home with his son?"

"He was not married, but the woman fled the valley soon after she gave birth, to keep her son safe from our kind. We permit Leo to leave every two months for a few days so he can go see his son and deliver the money he saves to the boys mother.

Sence frowned deeply at that and shook her head, lifting her hand up to rest gently on his cheek. Brushing her thumb over his cheek bone and whispering gently, "I do not agree with that."

"Do you ever give him extra money, to help him at all? Travel is expensive, even for people of our standing, how on earth does he manage it?"

"He has his own horse, and we allow him to stock up on food for the journey so he needn't buy overly expensive foods."

So you are a... whatever you named it... but that does not change who you are, your eating habits or anything else does not make you unworthy. You are still the boy I have dreamed to be my suitor for longer than you've known, the man I have had arguments with my father about countless times pleading him to consider talking to your father of it. I care about you deeply, ever so deeply. I have stayed up many a night and dreamed of running away, just me and you. Do not doubt yourself, the worse thing you can do is doubt yourself."

Lilliana followed, asking questions and doing her best to make light conversation throughout it.
