The Vampire Diaries

Vanessa got out when they got there. "Give me time alone with them?" She asked her father before heading inside and brushing off her mother, telling her the same thing before heading into the room her children were in.

"We- we have to go, flight leaves soon and I need to be with mom. With Kari and L.j."

"Okay, let me just pack some things and then we'll go."

Klaus sighed and got to his feet, heading into the house and wrapping an arm around Tatia when he saw her.

"Whoever's up there, our gods, Leon's gods, or that bloody catholic god, I feel like they have it in for Ness sometimes." Tatia whispered as she leaned into Klaus, cringing I to him when a few minutes later there was the sound of a pained cry coming from Karina, and full blown sobbing from L.J.

Holly nodded, untangling herself from him and going to curl up on the couch.

Klaus flinched at the sounds and whispered quietly, "I feel like they do aswell, I wish there was a way Icould guarantee   things going right for her for once without having to end so shortly."

Nate came back down a few moments later with a bag and offered her a hand up, "Ready to go?"

"It's like every time she gets herself happy and let's her guard down, something goes wrong for her. Why can they just let her be happy?"

Holly nodded, taking his hand and getting up.

Klaus just let out a deep sigh and gave a small nod of agreement.

Nate headed out silently then.

When they got there, Holly ran straight to Klaus as he was the first person she saw when she walked in and dumped her bags, despite the time of around four in the morning. Tatia wrapped an arm around her. "Vanessa's in the conservatory, she's just put the kids to bed." She told Nate quietly.

Klaus wrapped in his around Holly in a gentle hug.

Nate just gave a small nod, wandering into the conservatory and sitting himself down beside Vanessa, whispering a quiet, "Hey,"

"Are they sure there's nothing they can do?" Holly asked as she held him tightly

"I know you're not my biggest fan, due rightly because of how I treated you, but if you're here to gloat or brag or whatever I deserve from you, please don't." Vanessa said; not unkindly, just wearily as she didn't know what to expect from him. "I don't know if you heard but my life's been a bit shit lately." She added won a humourless laugh.

"That's what they said." He whispered.

Nate just shook his head and pulled her into a hug, muttering, "I'm not that heartless."

(( Night ))

"There's nothing they can do to bring him back. He's gone forever, I didn't even get to say goodbye or tell him I love him, and he won't hear it if I do tell." Vanessa sobbed into his neck. "He's gone.."

Holly started to weep into his shoulder then.

Nate remained silent, simply hugging her.

---

"Sshh, Holly," Klaus whispered softly, "Everything'll be fine eventually, you'll learn to cope."

(( Now night ))

" I'm sorry I hurt you Nate, you didn't deserve it, not at all . You've grown up since you messed with me, and you apologised for it and we were close and, and I shouldn't have just discarded you when I wanted to get back with Leon. I hurt you and you're here comforting me..."

"Why would Jason do such a thing?! It's his father too!"

"It's fine, angel.  I deserved it. Stop being silly and feeling guilty for something that happened so long ago."

"I know," Klaus frowned, "I don't understand it either."

"He took my daddy away. Leon was my dad too and now I don't have him anymore..." Holly whispered, trembling as she contained her sobs.

"You didn't, just like I don't deserve your comfort." Vanessa whispered, though she curled up against him anyway, burying her face in his chest.

Nate just sighed and held her close without a word then.

Klaus just smoothed her hair down gently, whispering, "I know, Holly, I know,"

"We argued the last time we spoke, because I wasn't coming home for moms birthday and he thought I should... I put the phone down on him."

"Thanks for coming Nate..." Vanessa whispered

"I am sure he has already forgiven you for that, Holly," Klaus assured gently.

"Don't thank me, it's fine," Nate replied. "Holly asked me too, if I had any doubts , so…"

"I guess she knows me better than I though then, because I guess I need this right now."

"He loved you," Klaus assured, "You're his daughter, he couldn't hate you as much as tried to. If he were to even try"

Nate just nodded a little bit.

"You're doing well, my love, learning," Alfdis told Bjorn gently in English, pressing her lips to his in a light kiss.

((Yeah lmao, nobody can get past five so they all hate it but I'm quite good at it haha))

"I feel awful, I...."

Vanessa yawned quietly, snuggling up to Nate.

---

"There are things I'd rather be doing." Bjorn hummed, kissing her back deeply.

Klaus just sighed softly and moved his gaze over to Tatia then.

Nate just moved his hand to guide her head down to rest on his shoulder more comfortably so she'd be able to fall asleep if she needed it.

Alfdis laughed gently and closed her eyes, kissing him back as she rested her hands on his shoulders.

"Holly he loved you, he'll know you loved him too." Tatia soothed gently

Vanessa eventually fell asleep after another half an hour or so, too exhausted and drained to fight it any longer.

Bjorn grinned, picking her up.

Nate remained where he was, leaning his head back and closing his own eyes after a few moments.

"I bet your exhaust, let's get you to bed." Klaus suggested quietly.

---

She wrapped her legs around his torso, mumbling against his lips, "Our children are brilliant…. I thought I'd never see you again."

"I wanna see Kari and LJ."

"I'm glad you were wrong, my love."

Vanessa slept soundly, not noticing when Tatia came in and sighed softly at seeing them, covering them over with a blanket and closing the blinds before leaving.
