Outcast Villiage

Evelyn smiled at her. "Morning, what would you like for breakfast?"

"I've only come down for coffee and then I'm going for a morning run before breakfast, scope out the routes. If dad let's me." Citlali yawned into her hand and tugged her nightdress a little further down.

"Better go before he gets up."

Alex and David walked in at that point, and David whistled at seeing her in her nightdress, both boys were shirtless, just coming back from their own run. "Morning." David smiled.

"Morning David, morning Alex."

"He's already up. He takes blood for a test every now and then because leukaemia is in our genes and he's paranoid." Citlali nodded in greeting as she made her way to the kettle, grumbling at the cold tiles of the kitchen floor.

"Oh, Alex you need to heat the kettle again."

Citlali started looking through cupboards until she pulled out a mug and set it on the counter, soon dragging herself up onto the side so she could get her feet off the floor.

"Need any help?" Alex asked.

"Just trying to stop my toes from freezing while I wait for the kettle to boil." Citlali yawned quietly again, smoothing her dress out.

Alex let his eyes glaze over slightly and her feet felt warm.

Citlali sighed happily, letting her legs stretch out gently in front of her.

"Take that as a yes."

"That is a really awesome power." Citlali sighed in content as she tapped her fingers against the kettle to test how warm it had gotten

"Well, I am known as havoc for a reason."

"What is that, a nickname?" Citlali laughed quietly.

"Yeah, maybe I'll show you my power sometime."

"Dad said unsupervised, irrational use of powers is ill advised." Citlali's tone of voice suggested she didn't like that. "Which is why when I go running, I'm not allowed over fifteen kilometres an hour."

"Your dad is an ass."

"Alex, don't start another fight with him, not with your daughter close."

"I know he is." Citlali sighed unhappily. "I can't feel the burn if I don't run fast and I get restless and bored. I feel restricted and it's awful."

"Lets see if we can fix that."

Citlali tapped her neck. "He chipped me like a common house pet and consistently monitors my heart rate so he knows if I'm pushing myself."

"We can sort that.'

"I'm not having anything sharp come near me or I might hurt someone."

"Don't have to, Evelyn can scramble the signal from the chip, so you can run as fast as you want."

"He's gonna figure something out when he doesn't get signals. But being able to run freely for some time would be a blessing."

"Evelyn, do you think it's possible?"

Evelyn looked at him. "It is, I just need to know where the thing that I'm blocking is."
