Adam just shook his head, crying until he was too exhausting to. Lifting a trembling hand to wipe the tears from Olivia's eyes gently.

"He will, one day he will. Don't beat yourself up, sweetie, not too much. You didn't know…. How were you meant to know, hm?" Astrid whispered, making Kol tuck his head beneath her chin so she could hold him closer.

Adrian nodded then grimaced a little. "Sorry, bout the twenty questions thing, but I never see either of you so I have to use the time I get to ask you stuff."

Olivia was still trembling and clutching at herself, arms wrapped around her stomach and curled up.

"Oh god." Kol mumbled, shaking his head.

Adam pressed his lips to her forehead before pulling her into him. "Don't blame yourself Ollie, don't apologise for anything. It wasn't you."

"Sshh," Astrid soothed softly, "You weren't to know, Kol, you weren't to know."

Alfdis frowned a bit, whispering, "Let's find your father, hm? Let him see you."

I can't go to that house again without you… and what about Thea, hm?"

Adam held her close with a sigh.

Lifting her hand up to rest on his cheek and press her forehead to his, "I need you, sweetie and as shallow as it sounds I know you need me too…. We need each other. That empty house isn't my home without you and the boys, don't leave me with nothing but a cold house full of taunting memories, pretty boy, please. I love you… god I love you so, so much… don't go…" she whispered, adding on the verge of a sob, "Don't leave me…"

"That wouldn't of changed what happened." Adam whispered, "It isn't your fault my dad is a violent, alcoholic idiot."

Karl just frowned and shrugged .

"You might have told him, then he wouldn't have done anything to me, wouldn't have killed..."

"You talking to someone Alfdis?" Bjorn asked as he came down the stairs, stopping dead at seeing Violet.

"I've been a crap wife too…" Astrid whispered in a broken tone, backing up before turning and walking off. Not silently entering her sisters home until a few hours later, dried tears on her cheeks and a slight tremble to her hands still. Her own wedding ring now off and in her pocket.

Karl just shrugged in response to that.

"He is wrong, sweetheart, so, so wrong…"

Alfdis watched silently.
