Us and Them

"I'm sure don't worry about it."

She grabbed onto his shirt tightly looking up at him.

"It's alright, I'm still here."

She nodded, picking up their son. "Okay then."

"Stay..." She whispered.

He left going upstairs to clean up.

He moved to take off his shoes and jacket and he moved to lie on top of the blankets, sliding an arm around her to hold her close.

She took their son to his room and Lucy followed her, and she sat by her brother's crib as she watched Esmerelda change and feed Daniel.

Jaylin only let him go long enough for him to do that before clinging to him again.

He took care of everything upstairs.

Esmerelda eventually put Daniel into bed and she sat on Lucy's bed with her, and as Lucy sat on her lap, Esmerelda was reading her a story.

He slid his arms around her. "Close your eyes, I'm not leaving you."

After cleaning himself up he made his way to Lucy's room watching from the doorway.

She shook her head just looking up at him.

Eventually, Esmerelda laid Lucy in bed as she drifted off to sleep and she looked at Gavin as she put the book into a bookcase.

He kissed her forehead.

He smiled at her.

She shivered a little.

She smiled back, walking over to him.

He looked at her. "Alright, I'm not going to do that again, okay?"

He wrapped an arm around her waist.

She squirmed up on the bed to press a tiny kiss to the side of his mouth before laying her head on his shoulder.

He move to gently and quickly kiss her lips.

She smiled softly.

She relaxed a tiny bit at that.

"You tired at all love?"

He smiled slightly.

"Nope, are you?"

Jaylin held him close.

"No I'm okay."

"Then do you want to go downstairs?"

He kept her as close as he could.

"Sure."

-----

She tucked herself close holding him tightly soon closing her eyes.

She left the room with her after closing the curtains to Lucy's window.

He kissed her head gently, tucking the blanket around her.

He brought her downstairs.

She let him but still held onto him.

He rested his head on the pillows next to hers.

Esmerelda looked around the room and she sighed.

He looked at her. "What's wrong?"

She moved to be closer.

"We all could have died today...If we'd let Lucy go in first, or you, then I could have lost you..." She whispered.

He held her as close as possible.

"I can handle myself Es...you wouldn't have lost me."

Jaylin laid her head on his chest. "H-Hunter?"

"Yes?" He asked her.

"I don't deny that, but Gavin they could have taken my head off, I'd hate to think of what they could have done to you." She told him.

"I'm sorry..." She whispered softly.

He let out a deep sigh. "I know Es, I know."
