Us and Them

"Would you ever like a family of our own?"

"Only and I seriously mean this Hunter. Only if and when you may ever be ready for that. If you're not then I'm okay with it just being the two of us."

"Well I mean this: Only if you feel ready to be a mother and take on that responsibility then I will always be ready to have a family with you. But because we are vampires, it might take us a while until we can actually conceive a child."

She laid a hand on his cheek. "How long it takes doesn't matter in the least to me. What matters is I want you to be okay, I don't want you to fear something happening. I saw that look in your eyes when you sister mentioned us having children...I don't want to see that."

I'm always going to fear something happening, it's what comes from being a parent." He told her. "I know how it looked, but if I'm honest I miss being a father."

Jaylin brushed her knuckles against his cheek. "What's being a parent like Hunt? Is it what everyone says?"

"It's wonderful...Being able to see this little child for the first time and being able to hold them, talk to them, spend time with them, it's the most amazing feeling ever." He told her. "Admittedly, it is quite scary at first because it's new, and you've got to look after this little baby, but the good definitely outweighs the bad."

Jaylin smiled listening to him.

He looked at her. "That's what it's like."

"And here I thought holding that little guy inside was amazing...and seeing Lucy smile while she plays with Demon is wonderful. It's better then that?"

He nodded.

She poked him lightly in the ribs.

He smiled slightly.

"Then whenever it happens I'll be thrilled to have a family with you. To have the chance to love someone that'll love me back, just like you do."

He looked at her. "Well, there's nothing stopping us from trying for a baby right now." He told her, he sounded playfully but there was underlying sign of seriousness in his voice.

She didn't say yes or no only looking at him to see if he meant it or not.

He looked at her and he actually looked serious.

Jaylin nodded slowly that she was okay with it.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. Why wouldn't I be?"

He shrugged. "Come on, lets go insisde."

She seeked confused now but she moved getting to her feet.

He held her close. "Hey you said that you wanted to, so I just didn't think you wanted to do it outside."

Jaylin shrugged. "Wherever you want to is fine with me."

"Who are you an what have you done with Jaylin?" He asked her playfully.
