"I just.." Max grimaced and shook his head. "It isn't ad aventure, its a road to being hurt like everything always is with parents."

Lorelai nodded. "Thank you."

"Your dad is trying his hardest here Max," She told him. "But there's no point if you're always expecting the worst."

He nodded. "Alright, sounds adventurous."

"I didn't invite you here to lecture me, Aly, if your going to start that shit again then you need to just leave now."

"I'll go first," Peyton grinned, getting to her feet and heading up to the bar with the menu she was holding.

"I hope it goes well with your son today,"

"I'm just having a conversation with you Max."

He watched her go.

"Yeah somehow I'm. Starting to doubt that." He sighed. "Ill catch up with you soon?"

"No, your doing what you always do. Just stop."

Peyton came back a few minutes later and sat herself back down, smirking at him

"Fine then." She td him. "But you have to stop too."

He raised Ana eyebrow before he got up and walked to the bar ordering her meal.

"Don't talk to you anymore, got it." Max muttered.

Lorelai watched until he was out of sight before allowing hersef to dip beneath the water.

Peyton watched him closely as he did, studying hum thoughtfully.

"You and your dad are pretty similar you know." She told him.

Koby caught up with them pretty easy and he watched the two.

He came back afyer a few minutes and he smiled as he took his seat back.

Max just raised a questioning eyebrow at her, taking note f Koby behind them but not acknowledging him at all.

"Your both stubborn." She told him.

He shrugged. "Depends."

"Will you talk already, you make me nervous when you're silent."

Koby laughed watching them. "You know I can see why everyone says that you two belong together."

"Ah," She hummed, wrinkling her nose a little bit to hide disappointment as her eyes scanned the area. "You know what, I actually have stuff I have to do tonight that I forgot about. I need to go."

Max just looked over his shoulder at Koby, "I'm worthy of your time now am I?"

"Max you're always worthy of my time." He told him."I just had to finish up with her."

"You aren't going to get any attention off of any women with me sat opposite you, especially in this ridiculous dress." Peyton mumbled. "You want to find someone who catches your eye, then do it."

"And I couldn't come with you, or wait where we were. Had to send me into the heart of a pack of strangers - that has never gone well for me, ever." Max replied sharply. "Not that you or Aly see that, Aly is only happy when I pretend I dont get anxious and your only happy when I pretend your the nest thing since sliced bread."

"Tonight is just about you, please stay."

"Max mermaids are unpredictable, especially when hurt, i didn't want you to stay in case it went south and there was a risk to you getting hurt." He told him. "Sending you to the pack was the safest option."

"Not for me. A pack I don't know isn't safe to me." Max answered quietly.

"Why?" Peyton asked, "What is the point of this, why agree with me when I call it a date if you are still waiting for someone to catch your eye?"

"And I'm sorry Max, but the split decision was made." He told him. "I know it didn't make you comfortable but the alternative is not what I could have lived with."

"Yeah, well everything is always about you clearly." Max replied with an eyeroll.

"Okay both of you please stop, this is meant to be a nice time away for you two to bond." Aly told then.
