Life we once knew

You don't know what happened. One minute you're going about your daily business, be it work, a jog or sleeping in and then you wake up in an unfamiliar land. With a new name, a new story, even new clothes, but a memory of who you once were. Now you need to learn how to survive in a world where everything is medieval, learn a new role in life and how to start again. You get to choose how you live, what position you wish to live as. Whilst trying to find a way back to their old lives. But some must wonder, what would happen if they did go back? Wouldn't life here be much easier?

You are currently from the 21st century but you find yourself in the old world of medieval country. Cars and planes are now replaced with horses, carts and carriages. Supermarkets are replaced with growing and killing your own food.  Shopping turned into farmers markets in the morning. Cultural barriers become more pronounced, but many don't let that stop them.

Lori was sat on the edge of her brother's house, watching the chickens swarm around her feet as her brother worked in the forge that was attached to their home. They had been in this life for about a year now and so far that had gotten along well, they had managed and her brother was making money. She was making little money as a hunter, but what she did make, when she made it was handsome.

Lorelle was walking through the houses, she had taken to doing this since she woke up here. The village was only a short walk from her manor, and she wanted to see her friend Lori but as she passed, if she saw the poor or the sick she would give them small parcels of food from her bag.

Anina was cleaning her make shift surgery, waiting for her first patients. Like many others, her job hadn't changed that much since she woke up here, but it was a lot less....clinical.

Aiden wandered through the local market, he was surveyng things as he often did. He had an agreement with the other lord and ladies that this would be his job so that they all worked in harmony to run the town.

Lottie was in the local tavern that was placed at the centre of town, it was one of the rougher locations that people tended to frequent but those whom did she got along well with and she enjoyed the rough and readiness of it all. Currently she was cleaning up a spillage from one of the day customers as she pretended to be listening to her sisters complaints.

"You need to work somewhere a little bit more dignified," Her sister told her. "It is embarrassing, there are plenty of openings around the town - I heard the farmers were looking for someone to pick carrots in the fields."

Lori looked to her brother as he spoke to another villager for whom he had been working on a sword for. "I'm going to go to the tavern, see how they are for meat."

"Be careful." Niklaus shouted to her and he watched her walk away before he went back to his customer.

Lori walked towards the tavern and she headed inside, walking to the bar.

"God know, you wouldn't see me dead in a field." Lottie snorted softly, looking up when she heard the bell go to announce someone entering. Grinning when she spotted Lori, "Afternoon ma'am, built yourself up a thirst?"

"I have as a matter of fact." Lori told her. "One ale please."

"Coming right up,"

"I wouldn't." Lowri warned quietly, rolling her eyes when Lottie glared at her. "You work in a dump, Charlotte. It is no wonder people accuse you of that horrible thing as a side job."

"Perhaps the accusations are true, but who would you be to judge - here, I have the power." Lottie hummed, passing Lori the drink and humming, "I apologise for this womans behaviour, I am sure she will be leaving soon."

Lori shrugged. "Who am I to judge?" She asked as she put some coins on the bar for her drink. "I just hunt for most of the towns meat."

"Mm, exactly, a decent living that helps people." Lowri pointed out.

"Oh, and who exactly do you help, Lorianne-Marie? In your cushy job being bossed around by those in charge and barely earning enough to feed yourself." Lottie snorted. "I may work in a rough tavern and yes, I may sell myself on the side but - I decide when I work, how much I eat and where I go. I am no slave, like yourself. Now, leave."

"If you want a new job, you could trial with me." Lori told them. "I could do with the company and the help with the winter coming."

"I do not want a new job, I am content here living my life as I am. I have made that perfectly clear." Lottie answered sharply. "It is everyone else who seems to have the problem."

Lori shrugged and she walked over to sit by one of the windows. "Offer still stands."

"I do not want it."

"Then that's fine." She looked out of the window as she spoke, she could see her brother's forge from there, it was where she normally sat when she came in the tavern.

Lottie smirked as she watched her sister storm out, before looking over to her one customer. "How is your brother getting along?"

"He's doing well thank you." She told her. "How's business here?"
