"Is there anything I could to help you with that?" Ephraim grimaced.

"Don't hurt yourself." Chiquita smiled weakly.

Fletcher nodded, jogging towards the car before suddenly stumbling and forcing himself to sit down, head between his knees.

She shook her head.

Alex sat on the stairs, just as Moira found him.
______

"I won't." He smiled.

"I'm pretty sure someone would be able to transfer my numbness to you, even if we have to ask Barrett to help."

Fletcher showed up by the door after a handful of moments, holding his bag to his chest.

Chiquita nodded quietly, rubbing his side.

"I want to do this normally, no help from our powers." She told him.

Alex was talking with Moira. "Anjuli won't be a problem, I will look after her Moira, I just have a lot on my mind right now."

He gently kissed her cheek.

"Why?" Ephraim frowned. "If you're in pain, avoid it."

"Don't mean to interrupt anything." Fletcher grinned shakily. "But, uh...Citlali, she...she's healed up nice and well, pretty good actually, but there's a little bit of internal bleeding which, if let for more than a coupla hours, is gonna fill her lungs and slowly suffocate her to death, if blood loss don't get there first."

Chiquita smiled slightly, kissing his cheek in return.

"Because this will be a good pain."

"We have a few people who can help her." Alex told him.

"I love you."

"I wouldn't know pain could be good." Ephraim snorted.

"You may want to do it soon."

"I love you too."

She smiled. "You're a guy."

"Anjuli, you know what to do." Alex told the girl that had been talking to Ranger who had apeared by them.

"I know."

"And? I don't understand any pain because I've felt it all about three times in my entire life."

Fletcher automatically twitched, quickly looking away and closing his eyes for extra measure.

Chiquita smiled at him. "I'm going to get something to eat."

"That's another reason why."

"What's up with him?" Anjuli asked as she looked at Fletcher.

"Just go and do as I have asked Anjuli."

"Alright."

"Yes, call out on my inability to feel when I'm trying to understand how pain is good. I've barely felt it. The first time my left arm was being sawed off, the second time I'd been crushed under several tons of weight and the third time I was shot eight consecutive times in the back of the head, I recall you being there that time, the woman was stopped before she could empty the second clip."

"Oh my, isn't that unfortunate. I could do without the running commentary Jonathan, no matter how appropriate the distraction is." Fletcher's voice was quiet and rushed.

Chiquita reluctantly pulled away and walked down the hallway.

"Hey, your inability to not feel pain is a good thing." She told him. "And I told you before, what happened to you back then will never, ever happen to you again." She gently kissed his lips knowing that he couldn't feel it. "And so far I've made good on my promise about that."

Anjuli sauntered away to the room that Ranger and Citlali were n and she walked straight in.
_________

He watched her go.

"Yeah, but my inability to feel pain means I can't feel anything else either."

Ranger was sat on the bed Citlali had been tucked in, staring at his phone blankly. Citlali wasn't in the room any more.

Chiquita made her way to the kitchen, flinching in the doorway when she saw Death at the table, crunching into a lollipop.

"Unless I hit you over the head with something really hard."

"Where is she?" Anjuli asked him.

Xander decided to get changed.

"Unless I get hit in the head really hard," Ephraim conceded.

"Not here, obviously."

"How'd the first one go?" Death asked, trying to sound pleasant and Chiquita flinched, scratching her side again.

"Oh, don't worry. You'll get used to it." Death pulled another lollipop from her pocket.

"That's what I just said." She smiled softly.

"Where is she Ranger."

Xander got changed and he caught sight of the black marks in his arm and they seemed to have grown to just near his shoulder.

Ephraim nodded quietly.

"Not here. You can ask all day and that's what my answer will stay as."

"Enough of that. Look at this." Death rummaged and pulled out a small bottle, which had small flecks of black ash in the bottom. "That's a part of your soul, all burnt up. When this is filled to the top, I can't keep you alive any more. There's only so many rules I can break."

Evelyn rested her head on his chest.

Xander slid his shirt on and tried to forget about it, before he walked downstairs.

"You're a fucking idiot, I'm surprised Moira can stand you." She told him. "I'm the only one who can fucking help her right now."

Ephraim dragged his fingers through her hair and agaisnt the back of her neck.

Death pushed it at Chiquita who took it, staring at the ash in the bottom as she shook the bottle.

"Don't try emptying it. It'll fill up again, twice as fast."

"She's not here because I don't know where she is. I went out to wash the blood off my hands and when I came back she was gone."

She smiled. "What do you feel like doing?"

Xander leant against the doorframe, watching them.

"Well you're useless." She walked out to find Alex. "Alex! Try her cell!"

"Whatever it is you feel up to."

Death left her eyes drift past Chiquita to stare at Xander, before she shoved a lollipop down Chiquita's top and walked out of the kitchen past Xander.

"It isn't my fault there are covert operations who have spent millions on her and want her back."

"You should have kept an eye on her!"

"That's a lot of things....But some of them require you to actualy be able to feel me."

Xander watched her, before he walked to Chiquita.

"I left for all of two seconds! Obviously they have someone invisible or someone who can do what I can! I can't even remember leaving the room either, so perhaps I was manipulated, I don't know! We aren't all perfect!"

"Sorry that I can't quite fulfil that for you then."

Chiquita shook her top to let the lollipop drop out onto the floor, still more interested in the bottle.

"It's not that, I just want you to feel it to, because I don't like enjoying it whilst you really can't."

Xander slid his arms around her. "Going to explain what that is?"

"I don't mind pleasing you. It's really enjoyable."

"It's my soul, apparently. A little bit of it burns up every time." Chiquita shook it desolately. "Death can't fix absolutely everything."
