Life Used To Be So Simple.... <3

Genevieve made it a few steps before wincing again, leaning against the wall to stop herself from falling.

"Come on, I'll cary you."

"I don't know why it hurts so much," Genevieve whispered out, her voice barely more than a strained gasp.

"i don't either." He moved to gently pick her up so she didn't feel any pain.

Genevieve shivered in his arms. "T-They aren't injured, a-are they?" she folded her arms shakily over her stomach. "M-Michael's magic f-flows from his b-body out of h-his control c-could it have..."

"I don't know, I'll ask Coraline to check."

"What if she t-tells Jean-Claude?" Genevieve's voice hitched in panic.

"She won't."

"Are you s-sure?"

"Yeah." He gently rested her on the bed.

Genevieve winced slightly before forcing herself to relax. "Are you g-getting her now, or staying with me?"

"I'll get her now, just promise to try and stay in this bed."

"Don't worry, I won't be moving..."

"Good." He kissed her forehead. "I'll be back soon." He headed downstairs. "Coraline?"

Genevieve curled up slowly, waiting quietly.

Jared eventually found Coraline and he got her to come upstairs to Genevieve's room.

Just as they got to the top of the stairs, Jean-Claude was leaving the bedroom, closing the door softly behind him. There was blood on his hands and he looked troubled.

"Jean-Claude what happened?" Coraline asked him.

"I went to see how Genevieve was." Jean-Claude stared at his hands. "She was pale and so I asked her how she was. She told me she was resting after being attacked by Michael and I told her that I hoped for her better health soon." He blinked a few times. "And then she started choking up blood and it wouldn't stop. My control has never been the best, I..." His fingers twitched and he slowly sank down against the wall, fisting his hands in his hair.

Coraline looked at Jared. "Go to her." She watched him go and she looked at Jean-Claude. "What did you do?"

"I don't know." Jean-Claude shrugged. "She was awake when I left. Smiled and watched me walk out but everything else is a sort of blur."

Genevieve was lying where Jared had left her, staring at the ceiling, though her throat was a mess, as if a wild animal had been chewing at her. At hearing Jared, she slanted her eyes towards him and smiled weakly at him, even as blood bubbled past her lips, mouthing, 'Hurts.'

Jared moved to heal her.

"She will be ok Jean-Claude."

Genevieve closed her eyes, slowly moving her hand to rest her fingertips against the hollow her neck.

"I hope she is. She doesn't traditionally puke up blood."

Coraline thought for a moment, before she seemed to realise what was up with Genevieve. "Yeah, but you were fne when I was...Because I was pregnant with Lloyd."

Jared kissed her forhead when she was fully healed.

Jean-Claude promptly froze as he lifted his eyes to look at her, face uncharacteristically blank.

When Jared leaned down to kiss her forehead, Genevieve had moved as if to meet him, though it was just instincts as she tried to go for his neck.
