Us and Them

"Alright then. In that case I'm going to bed." He muttered walking into his room to change his clothes.

She ended up sitting on the stairs for hald of the night, before she headed downstairs and sitting on th sofa.

Gavin laid on his bed most of the night in thought.

She eventually fell asleep on the sofa, only to wake up after a few hours and she walked over to the kitchen and just sat at the kitchen table.

When he woke the next morning he checked on Lucy and Demon before making his way down to the kitchen.

Esmerelda was writing on a piece of paper.

Gavin silently got himself something to drink without bothering her.

She continued writing and if he looked in the chair beside her, there was a small pile of letters.

He sat up on the counter sipping his juice as he watched her.

She finally finished writing the letter and she sealed in in an envelope, before she picked them all up and put them into a drawer, closing the drawer and resting her hands on the worktop, in obvious pain.

"Let me help you up to bed so you can rest?" He offered watching her.

"I'm fine." She told him.

Gavin just shook his head letting out a deep sigh.

"You should head to work."

"I should but you should be resting."

"I'm not tired." She told him and she walked back to the table, sitting in the chair that she was in when he came down.

"That's not the point and you know it. You were told to rest a lot."

"How can I rest when people want to kill me?"

"You can rest when I'm here if no other time."

"And yet you have to go to work."

"I'll stay home, call in sick or something."

She looked at him. "Do what you think is best."

Gavin let out a frustrated sigh running a hand through his hair. "Talk to me Es, tell me what the problem is hmm?"

"I don't know what's wrong with me." She suddenly told him. "I feel like crying all the time, which makes me hate the baby because I don't like being like this, which then makes me cry more because I hate myself for thinking horrible things about our baby. Then sometimes I feel hungry, so I eat, but then I feel sick so I force myself to throw up which then all of you tell me that I need to eat, which annoys me because you all know I'm a vampire and I'm not supposed to eat, but no one's helping me to feel better or giving me other options to help the baby to get stronger. And I'm thirsty all the time but tasting blood makes me feel sick. And now the baby's probably going to be really sick because I can't give them anything to make them healthy and they're probably better off without someone like me." She finally realized that she was crying as she told him all this and that made her even more frustrated. "And I'm crying again."

Gavin sighed deeply gently pulling her into his arms and holding her tightly. "Shh love it's alright, everything will be alright." He whispered softly trying to sooth her. "We'll figure something out."
