Hope Falls

"Your his fiancè, I'm sure you can... accidently give him a cracked wine glass, right?"

She nodded. “Are you sure you want to do this?” She asked him. “If my father does agree he will push this marriage on to you instead.”

"At least I know that I won't harm you, and I hope you know that too."

She nodded. “I know but that’s not what I asked.”

"I want to spare you from that brute, yes."

She nodded. “Thank you.” She looked to the door as a guard came out to them. “Princess it’s time for you and the Prince to lead a dance.”

"Do it in front of a crowd if you want to be even more controversial." Conon offered quietly as she stepped away from her. "Maybe your father needs everyone to see the betrayal before he acts."

She nodded and she looked like she wanted to say or do something but she headed over to the guard and went inside when she was away from them the guard walked over. “Sir I ask of you, please don’t play with her heart and promise her marriage if you don’t love her.” It was easy to see that he cared for Scalret as he had been her guard since she was a child.

"Don't assume that I don't." He advised quietly, heading into the main room a moment or two later and grabbing himself a drink before pushing his way through the crowd to keep an eye on Scarlett.

Scarlet was dancing with the crowned prince and he was telling her things that seemed to be setting scarlet on edge.

Conon frowned, gently pressing his finger against the same spot of the bracelet once again to try and soothe her.

Scarlet relaxed slightly and the Prince noticed just like he noticed who her eyes met. “If you go to him again he will die.” He promised. “You’re mine now, you’re going to be my wife, he doesn’t love you.”

Conon watched closely.

“Anyone is better than you.” Scarle told him and this time they stopped dancing and he grabbed her wrist almost crushing the bracelet that Conor had given her. “He gives you pieces of junk, he doesn’t love you.” He sneered. “Why would he, you’re nothing, you’re vile you’re vermin.” He told her and as Scarlet went to strike him he grabbed her wrist.

Conon shook his head and closed the space between them, allowing his wings to release from his back; a massive wing span of 4.8 meters from one tip to the other flooded the room; feathers glowing, though not completely white instead dappled with grey tints near their tips. Reaching his hand out to grab a hold of the man's wrist, his fingers curling around the skin until he heard the sound of bone breaking; "Let her go, Marcus."

“What is the meaning of this?” Scarlets father demanded. “Guards arrest him.” He pointed to Conon but this time Scarlet was quicker as Marcus let her go and she made her own blade appear and she cut the first piece of skin that she could find and when it hit the floor she made her own blood join his and unlike with hers and Conons nothing happened. At seeing this everyone seemed to stop.

Conon shoved Marcus away from them both, snaking an arm around Scarlett's waist and pulling her against his side protectively then. Wrinkling his nose.

“You had better explain your actions you little whore.” Her father seethed before he had all of the others guests leave except for Conon Scarlet their family and Marcus. Scarlet looked to them and she looked to Conon silently asking if he wanted her to tell them or he should.

"Watch your language." Conon warned lowly, feathers of his wings bristling in anger.

“You do not command me in my own kingdom.” Her father snarled.

“Stop it.” Scarlet told him. “You have been deceived, Conon is the true king of the light, you wanted a treaty he is the one you speak to.” Scarlet told her father.

"Marcus here thought slaughtering my family would give him a free pass, he thought I would never find out but young children grow, and remember and the things they don't remember they can find." Conon hummed, glancing over to the man. "There is far too much anger in this room. Everyone needs to take a step back, stop being foul and breath."

Scarlets father looked sceptical as he watched them. “Prove your story.”

Conan rolled his eyes, offering his palm out to Scarlett. "Do you want to do the honours this time?"

Scarlet made a small cut appear in his hand and then done the same in her own the blood making a crystal like it had earlier.

"Ta-da." He hummed.
