“That’s your daddy’s way of saying he’s going to spoil you.” Dagmar hummed as she pressed her lips to her daughters forehead. “You’re going to be a daddy’s girl, I can just tell.”

“More than sure. Iron stomach develops when you’re on military rations, I’m sure you had a taste of our cooks… meals when we were in the tents.” Emmett laughed as he turned to head back toward his room.

"There are always wars, unfortunately." She agreed with a quiet laugh, leaning her head to rest it against his shoulder. "Many decades... and if you were an adult. Are you about one hundred and fifty? It feels like.. like something and fifty fits."

"Oh, yeah those were terrible." She agreed, following behind him. "I am surprised the food didn't kill people."

Conan laughed quietly, getting to his feet and leaving the room to get the cot.

“We’ve often joked the cook is part Fae and was trying to make us want to die by their hands rather than eat his food.” Emmett grinned.

When he would’ve returned, Dagmar had gone through to the other room and settled in the bed, wrapping her daughter up in furs after cleaning her off - the baby resting contently against her chest as Dagmar fed her, a gentle hand brushing through the tufts of dark hair.

“I thought it was rude for humans to enquire about age?” Cadoc laughed.

“I don’t think I could bare to sleep again… bare to spend more than a moment not looking at her face, Conan. She’s… there are no words. And she is ours.” Dagmar grinned as she lifted her eyes to meet his, settling back into the pillows.

“Unfortunately we survived and had to keep eating.” Emmett hummed as he let himself into his room and headed to the side cupboard to pull out a bottle of wine.

“Maybe one day. I have to keep the mystery alive somehow.”

"Very torturous indeed." Karina laughed, following him inside and perching herself on the edge of his bed.

"We must rest while she does, that was the advice I was given today by the Lords." Conan mused, placing the cot down next to the bed. "Say goodnight to her, Dasha. It is time to sleep."

"You are cruel to me." Florence laughed quietly. "I need to think of something to keep from you now, to make it fair."

“All in all a good day for you then.” Emmett mused as he sat beside her on his bed, kicking off his boots with a groan.

"Why are all men needlessly loud?" Karina snorted when he took his shoes off, lifting her leg up to cross it at the knee of her other. "My day has certainly ended on a high, yes. Has yours?"

After a few more minutes when it appeared the baby was sleeping, Dagmar gently pulled her away and moved the straps of her nightgown back into place before passing her over to Conan.

"I am sure your biggest fan will return from wherever she has scurried off to soon," Karina chuckled. "Why have you invited a woman who hates you back to your room for a drink? It seems rather strange."

Conan leant down to kiss the baby's forehead gently as he got to his feet and gently placed her into the cot. "There... a busy day over."

"Maybe," She echoed quietly, lifting her head to glance around - trying to work out what she could see.
