“You could say that.”

She gave him a look of confusion.

“Well your dad did let me work the fields.”

"My-.. " Chelsea stared at him as she started to make sense of what he was saying.

He carried on feeding the horses carrots

"We were children..."

“So?”

"And now?.."

“Do I still like you?” He asked for confirmation. “Yes, but I know that you don’t feel the same now or then.”

She nodded. "I-.. I was little then. We were friends and I was the youngest and you were around for awhile and.. suddenly you weren't. How am I meant to know what I feel when I haven't seen you in ages..." She was being truthful but even as she spoke now she had turned to watch him, her eyes locked on his every movement.

“Yeah I had to go…my dad was in some trouble.” He came closer to offer her horse a carrot

"That's the last I saw you.. " she watched him until he came over. "He's not normally very friendly," she warned about the horse.

“It’s okay, he’s feeling a bit cautious, which is fine.”

"He's always that way. With everyone, even those he knows." Chelsea was still looking at Sebastian out the corner of her eye. "You're what.. twenty, twenty-one now?"

“Twenty two.”

She blinked. "So uhhh.. a few years older than me.." Quite a few years actually but that really didn't matter.

He nodded.

"Can I ask you a silly question?"

“Go for it.”

"What could you have possibly seen in me back then?"

“You were pretty, you were smart, you were intriguing.”

"I was a baby," she kinda teased, meaning how she was younger than him.

“You were eight, it’s not that bad.”

"And you weren't," she remarked. "I'm still not even finished with school yet."

“I’m only twenty two Chelsea, that’s four years older than you it’s not that big a deal.”
