Re: Hope Falls
"Your piss poor attitude just bores me," Lèna chuckled her amusment, turning on her heel and heading into the room to her left. Florence peering in to take in the bare room, a desk at it's centre, before it closed behind her.
"She seems very...." Florence wrinkled her nose, failing to find the word she wanted as she followed Raffetry. Now keeping a pace behind, eyes flitting to her surroundings, noting doors, rooms and windows.

Re: Hope Falls
Florence shook her head, "I couldn't find the word, don't worry about it. This place is... a lot bigger then it looks, isn't it? So many halls."
Re: Hope Falls
Florence nodded quietly in acknowledgement, slowing to a stop as they reached an iron cladded door at the end of one of the corridors. Musing, "Different kind of door.."

Re: Hope Falls
"It seems obvious." Florence snorted, taking a hesitant step forward to stand shoulder to shoulder with him once more. "They are all behind there then? What should I expect?"
Re: Hope Falls
“Don’t expect much. They’re drugged up to the eyeballs, especially the big one, had to keep him like that so he didn’t keep causing a fuss and trying to break out. Dont know why you’re so interested in seeing a bunch of sleepy fae but…” Rafferty laughed with a shrug.

Re: Hope Falls
"You spoke about them like they were a prize. I - I'm just morbidly curious, seeing the tables turned." Florence rolled her shoulders back, making a show of preparing herself. "The big one, mm?"
Re: Hope Falls
“Responsible for the deaths of thousands of us, if not by his own hands by his orders. Everyone talks about the Fae Queen with contempt but they forget she has never wielded a sword herself. Never personally skinned our kind, never sullied her own hands with our blood. He has. Thousands. He’s sat as the head of bed armies for centuries and whittled our kind down with his men. He’s rode through villages and burned them to the ground. It’s been on his orders our pups have been slain in their beds. He killed Iszak Kazinksys mother and sister in the same blow during the last war. Sarika has had him at the top of her shit list since then. They say she considers it the blow that made her lose him in the end. Something she’s never quite recovered from. For that alone Lèna knows killing him will earn the Adairs favour. It’s a shame he won’t get even a fraction of the pain he’s caused.”

Re: Hope Falls
"Why is he still alive then, why waste the drugs and poisons on such a man when more will come from him being dead? More satisfaction?" Florence bit her lower lip, curling her fingers into her own palms to try and mimic a silent rage. "Open the door? Let me see him. Let me see the man who has killed so many of us."
Re: Hope Falls
“So we get the ransom… and they will get him back. And he will seem well. But Lena has used silent poisons from the East. He will get on his horse to go home and never make it. Sarika will have the last laugh. He will have that relief that he was going home to the family he has, and he won’t make it. The way their boy never did. The way so many of our kind never did.”

Re: Hope Falls
Panic flashed in her eyes, face contortions momentarily before she dragged herself together once more. "It is certain then, he has already been given enough to kill him?"
"Raffetry!" Lèna called from her small office, voice loud enough to echo down to them. "Katalin has fucked up again. Bring me enough to make up a new batch for the disposables."

“Mm. Gave him enough so that he’ll definitely die when it works its way through his system in a week or so, but not too much so that when the sedatives wear off he’ll still be able to appear normal enough to get to his horse without them realising something is amiss. Lèna is the only one with the antidote, just in case.” Rafferty glanced over his shoulder with a grimace. “Don’t touch anything,” he warned before heading back towards Lèna.

Re: Hope Falls
Florence remained where she was, rocking on hee feet to try and mimic eagerness until Raffetry had disappeared from sight. Grabbing a hold of the door handle and pulling the door open, stepping into the room and whispering calling, "Wyatt?"

Re: Hope Falls
Wyatt was among the surviving members of his captured party, all hung from the ceiling in shackles by their wrists, sedated and unconscious.

Re: Hope Falls
Florence paled at the scene, trembling hand reaching into his pocket to pull out a key she had slipped from Raffetry's pocket as she had walked behind him. Using the key to unshackle his colleagues and guide them to lay on the floor before approaching her mate to do the same - one arm around his torso to catch his weight as she released him. "Wyatt." She breathed once more, grunting beneath his weight, "Wake up, Cavaughan isn't far behind me. Minutes... seconda, I hope."
Re: Hope Falls
Wyatt dropped heavily against her, a popping and cracking noise heard from his shoulders as he was slipped from the shackles.

Re: Hope Falls
Florence flinched at the sound, lowering to sit on her knees, resting the man's back against her front so he was sat up. Arms secured around his arms and chest to stop him drooping forward, whispering softly in his ear, "Any minute now they will be here, it was all planned. It'll be okay now, I've got you. I'm here."
"I am growing tired of giving the girl the task of making sedatives, every time it is done wrong." Lèna rambled her complaints as she lifted a glass pot up to the light that had been used on the fae men - the concoction inside three shades lighter than it should have been. "They will been their next dose again sooner, and stronger. It will begin to wear off soon and.." She trailed off with a frown, glancing towards the window at the sound of movement outside.

“Perhaps the younger ones just aren’t ready for this kind of responsibility if they keep messing it - “ Rafferty’s head whipped around at the noise, frowning as he looked around for where it came from.

"No one is due back for another few hours yet." Lèna frowned, pushing to her feet and walking out of the office to entryway. Pulling the door open to investigate, headless body hitting the floor with a thud almost instantly. The fae male at the other end of the weapon taking a casual step to the side, allowing Cavaughan to take over

Re: Hope Falls
A day and a half later…
“I have no concerns at all about him, Your Grace.” Lily assured as she gently handed Idris back over to Kael, having spent the last few minutes examining him in the healing wing, as she had every day. “No signs of anything at all to be concerned about. He’s gaining weight, his colour is good, his heart and lungs are healthy and there is no sign of any disease. I know it is a parents instinct to panic, and I know after all that has occurred you would be panicking more than most but, he seems like any other normal, healthy little boy I have looked after.”
“Thank you, wonderful to hear.” Daphne gently squeezed Kael’s arm, “We have all been worried. And of his mother? Kael cares for her too.”
“The Princess? She is healing as well as can be expected. Physically she is where I would expect her to be. She still - I find her calmness to be a little - I do not know the word. And I do not know how she has not yet cried, unless it has been in the brief moment she is alone. But Princess Avani has warned me to not poke the bear as she puts it. That she will release when she is ready so… To answer your question, she is healing fine. I no longer believe she is in danger of death.” Lily glanced around when she heard noises from the corridor.
“You are going to create a dented pathway on my floors if you keep pacing. I’m sure your soldier will be home soon.” Indira raised an eyebrow in almost amusement at her sister, sat up in bed as she watched her. “I have never seen you so concerned for someone’s safety before, even more surprising that it is someone you have barely known for long. This man is just fun, to you?”
“When can I go see Kael?” Mor whined as she followed her mothers skirts from her parents bedroom through to their living room, not the first, nor second time she’d asked in the space of a few short minutes.
“Morfyyd if you cannot learn to listen when you are given an answer you will be punished. Wilfully ignoring answers you do not like will not change anything! I have said that Kael will come to you when he is ready, he has gone through a lot and is not feeling up to company right now!”

Re: Hope Falls
"Fun, mm. Fun which I don't want to end quite yet." Avani froze on the spot then, making a point, though as soon as her feet were still she began to instead wring her hands. Eyes flitting towards the doors as she heard footsteps down the hall, nose wrinkled in disappointment when she didn't recognise them. "Don't question it. I don't understand what is wrong with me."
"Kael is very sad right now," Aodhän emphasised in a softer tone than Isolde from where he sat on the sofa, offering an arm out towards his daughter to invite her onto his lap. "You, I, Eira and your mother can do something for today instead, if you'd like?"
"Not death, no, but you believe that in her mind she is..." Kael grimaced, though smiled warmly at Idris in his arms. Leaning his head down to press a kiss to his sons forehead, "You look very tired today, Prince Idris. Very tired. You must rest."
"Has he shown any signs of waking yet at all?" Aoife frowned, glancing from Florence to Cavaughan and back again as she pressed a cold towel to Wyatt's head to try and stir him. Stood at the side of the bed in his and Florence's rooms.
"Briefly, moments.." Florence whispered. "Less than the others, but they gave him more than the others. Raff boasted about it...I am more worried about this poison he spoke of. Eastern."
