"I don't want to talk about it," Isaac mumbled, "I'm dreading it, it's really likely I'll lose you because of your heart so I'm dreading it more than I'm excited."

"And when you come home, I won't. We'll go live in New Orleans, like you wanted." She whispered, moving her hand to his cheek, studying his face before meeting his gaze. Taking a breath in so she wouldn't cry, before singing a song she used to calm him when he had nightmares quietly.

"I don't know," Orvar mumbled, "I don't know what you want me to say,"

Mica went silent then, closing her eyes to try and hide the heartbreak.

"I wanna go home!" Maddie yelled at Lloyd then, trembling violently as she clung to Mica, "I want to go home, so you have to because they won''t let me home unless you go home too! Don't be selfish!" she cried.

"Ssshh, baby." Mica soothed shakily, "We''ll.. uh.. we can.. I.." she shook her head, "I don't know how any of this works,"

"Dreading it." Isaac repeated quietly.

"Mhm,"

"I recently got addicted to noodles.... I can make all sorts with them." Grace offered with a small laugh.

"I haven't seen my own death... pretty sure I would... that's a good sign."

"You can't take us anyway. Sarah said you were just here to visit. You're not allowed to take us home."

"They told me they were investigating the case, they aren't telling me much... I uh, I think how the visits go effect it... I think your attitude towards me effects it; if you miss me, if you say things like that or not... I think Sarah's opinion of me effects it." Mica whispered, "This is out of my depth completely, sweetheart and I'm doing my best to handle this in the way that people expect me to. I'm sorry that you don't want to come home, I'm sorry I've made it so you prefer this woman over me. It breaks my heart, I'm mad at myself, I- It's hard to know the words to say, to make everything better. All I know for sure is I miss you, I love you, and I would really appreciate the opportunity to make it better, to be better, you just have to give me that."

"You never saw that you'd have a weak heart, there's lots of things you don't see Thadin, you need to stop relying on those stupid visions,"

"I like alcohol."

"I'll uh, give me.. a minute or two, yeah?" Mica whispered, putting Maddie down before wandering into the hallway, sitting herself down on the bottom step and breathing deeply. Holding her own hand tightly to try and stop the shaking.

"Why are you so nasty?" Maddie mumbled to her brother.

"I wanted it to be just us, Orvar being there is fine but it means I can't have mum there. It'll be too crowded with doctor and midwife in there too so..." Isaac shrugged.

Orvar shrugged.

Mica pulled her phone from her pocket and called Tatia, holding the phone to her ear quietly.

"No, because you want Orvar there." Isaac mumbled quietly.

"I'm in a bad mood, and I don't know what you want me to say. Any changes I've made you won't agree with them, because they were changes caused by you breaking me. Can we stop talking about the future, because we used to do that and then you left me. Lets stop talking about the past too because that's a shambles. You want to talk, make it about now, because now is the only thing that's real."

"But you don't remember it! And you're being selfish and it's effecting me!" Maddie cried then, "I want to go home, I left my teddy at home... I want to be tucked in by mummy... I- I don't like Sarah, she isn't mum! She'll never be mum! She doesn't love us!"

"Doesn't matter... he probably won't be able to make It anyway... just us. That's all that's important..." Thadin shrugged. "As long as you're there I don't care..."

"You were fine just five minutes ago… you have to let go of what happened if you want there to be a future for us... just like I'm trying to let go too. Otherwise it's hopeless..."

"Shut up Maddie. You're just mad because this is the second dad that's left you."

"I'm really not in the mood for the 'you're a shut mother' lecture Mica so..." Tatia sighed as she answered. "If you need me I'm here as always but not to be shamed again."

Mica hung up half way through her sentence, texting her: -The kids were taken off me two weeks ago because Joseph walked out on them and they wandered off, social services found them before I could. It's the first time they've let me see them. Lloyd hates me and doesn't want to come home, Maddie's frail, I don't think she's been eating. I'm in over my head. I'm alone, other than Kieran making sure I don't get stuck in a pit. I thought your voice would stop me from shaking. I was wrong. Fuck you.- Getting to her feet then, she wandered into the room Sarah was in, whispering; "I don't know what you understand, I don't know what you think of me... But Lloyd calms to singing when he has nightmares, when Maddie has nightmares she just likes to be held really tight, in silence. Maddie is amazing creatively, she likes making things... legos and blocks, Lloyd is really bright, he could read like six months earlier than everyone else and loves stories, uh, fact books too but he can also paint; gets that from my dad. When Maddie is sad she's silent, Lloyd is always quiet but when he's sad it's... a different kind of quiet."

"You keep saying that! You keep saying that but I only have daddy! Our daddy!"

"Ok."

"I have let go; your the one who keeps talking about change."

-All you've done the last few times you've spoken to me is criticise me. Forgive me for not being able to bear it any longer.-

"They both love you very much. I know that. Lloyd wouldn't be lashing out the way he is if he wasn't upset... and he wouldn't be upset if he didn't love you so much."

"But he's not yours! Someone else is! Your daddy probably isn't crazy!"

Thadin curled up on the couch then, closing her eyes.

Grace just sighed softly. "I don't think you're ready for us to move in together again... still sense a lot of resentment and anger."

"No, no, maybe I'm just scared of the move! Not everything is about you, ok?! I'm making a big step in my own life and I am scared. It isn't about you, you need to back off me!"

"Things with my family are strained at the moment, my husband isn't very well mentally so I went to see a friend to try and figure out the best way to help him. I came back, and they were gone and social services found them before I did. I am.. basically alone.. my own mother is useless and I used to think being their mum was the only thing I was kind of ok at.. So.. It's been a shock. I don't know how this system works, and I'm sure you're a very lovely person but... No one can love them like I do... I hope you don't have a bad view of me, I bet that opinion effects how it all happens."

"I just want to go home!" Maddie screamed.

"You seem like a good mother who just made the wrong call by letting their father stay with them. I'm not here to replace you, don't worry about that."

Grace flinched when he shouted, backing off.

"Well I don't!"

Thadin woke a few hours later. "Isaac?" She called as she sat up.

"I hate you!" Maddie screamed, hitting him as roughly as she could.

Mica just swallowed thickly, turning her head when she heard Maddie.

"Mm, I'm here." Isaac whispered, sat on the floor beside the sofa, "What is it?"

Orvar was quiet then.

Grace said nothing, just wringing her hands as she walked.

"Hurts..." Thadin whispered, tightening her grip on the couch.

Lloyd fell off the chair he was on, landing with a thud and a cry of shock.

Mica jogged into the room, sitting herself down and pulling Lloyd onto her lap gently. Resting her hand on the back of his head as she checked him over, "You ok?"

Maddie swallowed thickly.

"What does?" He frowned, glancing over his shoulder.

Lloyd just trembled, glaring at Maddie.

Mica wrapped her arms around him, hugging him tightly. "Don't turn on each other, I know it's scary... I know you've both been through a lot but don't let it separate you."

Isaac got to his own feet with a frown, "Hospital?"

(( Night night; travelling back to Cardiff tomorrow so will post then if I don't do it beforehand ))
