Will You Keep The Secret

"Daddy!" She shrieked loudly flailing ber arms about.

Jack was laughing so hard all he could do was dial the number and hand the ringing phone over.

Olifat looked down on the world, deciding where he would let the lightning take him this time, when he noticed a young girl sheltering from the rain. He could see was soaked through and shivering. "Oh this could be interesting". Olifat sent a clap of thunder down and landed close to where the young lady was but just out of sight. She jumped at the noise and Olifat came out from behind the tree he was standing by and walked up to the young lady like a cat stalking a mouse and when he was just behind her, practically purred, "Why hello there, you must be freezing my dear. I'm Oli, and what may I call you?" The woman span round and as she came face to face with Oli he took her hand and placed a kiss on her knuckles.

"Why hello Aurora, I must say, your beauty can outshine even the borealis."

Oli could only blink in mild surprise. This was going to be harder than he thought. His charms should have worked already. "Here, let me show you" and Oli took a step closer to Aurora, wrapped his arm around her and pointed up to the sky where he manipulated it to show the borealis. "These, are the Aurora Borealis, and as to why I'm talking to you, well, I never could resist a beautiful damsel in distress." At the end of the sentence he looked down at Aurora and flashed his most winning smile.

It dawned on Oli that just perhaps he'd made a slight error in judgment. Very slowly he said, "yes, just like the Northern Lights. Well, they have been seen in other parts of the world you know, this must be one of those rare moments...." and subtly tried to take his arm from around Aurora's waist so he could get away. Just then there was another thunder clap near to Oli's feet and Aurora took a tight hold of Oli's arm, her nails practically drawing blood, pinning him to her. Oli looked up to the sky and muttered, "Thanks for that Thor" and thought, "Now I'm stuck with her."

Oli took a deep breath, not quite sure how to deal with what was quickly becoming story time. Knowing that he would likely regret bringing his walls down, he gave Aurora a light squeeze and subtly waved his hand to stop the bad weather. Slowly the rain eased up and the sun began to shine weakly through the clouds. Oli could feel the tension leaving Aurora's body and her death like grip slowly lessen on his arm. "Finally, I can get away" but as Oli thought it, he knew that he was already too far in to just leave now. "I'm sorry about your friend....."

"Nah-uh," She giggled in a singsong voice. "It's me Uncle Lucian!"

Oli stepped up to her, getting into her personal space, trying to regain some sort of control over the situation. He whispered, "Still, mustn't have been easy." Oli paused, making sure he had a captive audience. "They say there was a storm the day I was born and that's how I got my eyes, some say that there's a little magic in me, who knows." Oli's eyes sparkled with mischief as he leaned even further in to Aurora so that his breath tickled her face, "and by all means precious, having you as my own personal tour guide will be, entertaining." With that Oli leaned back and tucked Aurora's hand in the crook of his arm and waved his hand to indicate that she should lead on.

Oli had never been able to give up a challenge and Aurora certainly was a challenge. How did one woman go from completely naive to so broken and dark in the bat of an eye? He jogged slightly to catch up with her. "No magic? There are more things in heaven and earth,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy. There is magic everywhere, if only you know how to look for it. Your aunt sounds like a charming woman but very mistaken. You have the face of an angel precious."

She didn't notice how quiet he was. "Thank you! Great, I got a tiara like the real princesses! Are you in town, can you visit?"

She wanted to ask why but didn't. "Alright. I will."
