"All the more reason for someone at full strength to protect her." Alice told him.

"We don't know what they even did to you."

Ana was back to pacing.

"I don't remember much, just dark and cold, then a lot of pain."

He frowned. "You should be resting.."

"Frankie I feel fine."

He sighed deeply. "You're not going to listen to me no matter what I say.."

"Not when I'm probably the only one who won't get hurt."

He turned away without another word.

She made her way over to him, gently resting a hand on his arm.

He said nothing, not wanting his anger to get the better of him.

"Hayden, Ana can you leave?"

Ana nodded, turning and leaving the room.

Hayden nodded and she left. When they were gone, Alice turned him to look at her. "Look at me, talk to me, please."

"I have nothing to say. You won't listen anyhow."

"I don't want you hurt, death is lonely and scary and I don't want you to go through that, you might not see it but I'm trying to protect you, but I'm sorry if I'm upsetting you."

"And you think we enjoyed losing you? That our daughter doesn't need you more than she needs me? The last thing I want is to lose you again."

"You're more powerfulthan me, you can protect her when I can't."

"And yet I nearly got Matthew killed today and I couldn't bring Stefan home.. "

"I've healed Mathew, and you had your hands full."

He grumbled under his breath.

She turned him to look at her. "I'm scared for you." She whispered.

"I'm not going anywhere, remember? You already made up your mind."
