He shrugged. “I’m hoping it’s because of my vampire genes, they are quite useful.”

She nodded. “Yeah.”

"Mm," She hummed softly, leaning in to press her lips to his cheek. ""I just hope I'm enough for you."

"I don't believe you." Maxwell chuckled shakily. "If you are being honest though, I need to know your secret."

“What secret?” She asked him.

He moved to press a soft kiss to her foreheadz

"How you are you okay."

Catalina frowned, closing her eyes at the kiss.

“I don’t understand what you mean.” She told him.

“You are more than enough for me.” He promised her and the look on his face showed his sincerity.

"I just asked if you were okay and you said- Oh, oh never mind." He grimaced, walking to the other side of the boat to set them off sailing.

"Being painted out to be the villain is exhausting, a villain for caring."

“what happened?”

“Sorry I thought you meant okay at this second.” She told him. “My head feels like it is shattered into a million and one pieces so in that respect no I’m. It okay but being on the ocean is calming to me I feel at peace here.”

"It is all the same difference to me. This moment, in general. They are the same." Maxwell whispered. "I'm glad the ocean helps you. It.. it makes sense. What was happening to you earlier?"

Catalina grimaced, shaking her head and squeezing his hand tightly. "It's been a bad two weeks hasn't it? Ignore me. I am just exhausted."

She sighed softly. “My brother and I had a bond which meant that we could feel everything that the other felt….his girlfriend convinced him to get it taken away and he agreed but to break a bond with someone who is unwilling causes them a hell of a lot of pain.” She explained. “He didn’t even talk to me about it first.”

He moved to slide an arm around her. “Let’s get some rest before we take the boat.” He told her.

"'Why would you want to feel what someone else is feeling?" Maxwell grimaced, closing his eyes against the wind on the ocean.

"Before we take the boat? Oh, okay."

“Gonna want your strength for travelling.” He explained his reason behind it not wanting to upset her.

“Originally it wasn’t our choice but it was nice.” She told him. “When I was scared he would help keep me calm and when he was happy the feeling was shared so I was happy too…..now I just feel empty.”

Catalina nodded, slowly making her way back toward her home.

"Empty? I am sure you have your own emotions, hm? Perhaps being so co-dependent on someone isn't such a good thing."

“Is it classed as co-dependant?” She asked quietly. “You have someone in your head for the majority of your life to talk to and ask advice and share news with all of the time when no one else wants to talk to you, I think I’m allowed to feel a bit lonely right?”

He walked with her

"It was co-dependency, yes. You can feel lonely, but it sounds like a positive change to me."

Catalina let herself collapse onto the bed when she got in, curling up beneath the covers.

She shrugged. “You know if a siren gets lonely they can go mad right?”

He smiled softly locking the door again and he moved to join her.

"Do you need more blood," She offered tiredly, lazily pulling her hair away from her neck.

"Anyone can go mad. Relying on some one that deeply though isn't good, you need to find other things, other ways."
