"As you said, you've had nothing to do with him in years so you wouldn't know." She hummed with a mischievous smirk then. Irritation making way to amusment as her confidence began to sky rocket with the facts she knew. "I would tell you in all the ways he has grown, but, I don't believe yiu deserve that privilege . I mean that - you shouldn't have to be told."

Thorin raised an eyebrow with a smirk. “Well then unless you plan on telling me because all I see when I look at Damian is a sorry man who has been beaten so low in his life that he can’t bare to make you unhappy so will change any aspect of his personality and physical being to suit what you want because he believes that you are the best he is going to get.” Thorin told her. “When face it Alessia, Damian is an equivalent to a human prince he could have any woman he wanted but he chose you.”

"Mhm, he chose me. Wonderful that, isn't it? Thank you Thorin, I am glad you can accept that."

Believe me Alessia if he had sampled the women of the world without settling down as quickly as he did I doubt you would be least of his choices.” He told her.

"Then I encourage you to speak to him and widen his horizons. Really, I emplore you. Do it as soon as he comes back into the room with the baby."

“Or you could both talk to me instead of trying to decide who I should settle down with?” Damian told them as he leant in the doorway hold Rose, his face didn’t show any emotion but he had heard everything.

"Your father is being ridiculous again, trying to put me down." Alessia snorted, though her eyes lit up when she spotted Rose. "Ah, there she is
Perfect petal."

“I’ve warned you, I don’t know how many more times you need me to tell you but you insult her once more and I will throw you back down there quicker than you can blink.” He promised him as he looked down at his daughter. “Sorry we took so long little one got hungry.”

"Oh it's fine, she's the most important." She whispered, moving to stand at his side. Slipping her arms around him.

He slid his free arm around her kissing her head. Thorin just watched for a few minutes before he looked to the baby. “Your mother is going to adore her.”

Alessia remained silent, deciding not to contribute to avoid another argument occurring. Resting her cheek against Damian's shoulder instead, looking down at her daughter.

Damian kissed her head.

“Can I hold her?” He asked.

Damian let go of Alessia to cross the distance between them and his father and he handed his daughter to him staying close by incase

Alessia turned her head to hide how her nostrils flared, clearly uncomfortable with it.

“Times up, you need to leave.” Damian told him after a few minutes, he had told his father 30 minutes and he was sticking to it. “If Alessia is okay with it you can come again but until she decides stay away.” He told him as he took his daughter back

"It's not my choice." Alessia whispered, the confidence she had shown during her and Thorin's conversation having been a bravado that was now beginning to tire.

Thorin hesitated about handing the child back, what he had said was true he had given Damian away when he was Roses edge and it was easy to see that he did regret it but he handed the child back when Damian gave him a warning look. When the baby was back in Damian’s arms Thorin disappeared

Alessia's shoulders sagged when Thorin left, wandering to the other side of the room to grab one of her daughters teddies. Clutching it to her to use for comfort the same a child would, closing her eyes to try and stop tears flowing.

Damian placed their daughter in her play crib and he walked to her sliding his arms around her

"I'm fine." She lied quietly.

“alessia I know you’re not.” He told her

"It's -" She paused, cutting herself off to take In a trembling breath. "He just gets to me."

“I know, I’m sorry you had to go through that.” He told ber

"You have nothing to apologise for."

“Still he’s my blood, I think that qualifies in the Sorry category.”

"It doesn't... not at all."
