The Queen Is After Me

"Alright then."

Emelia walked alongside him silently then.

He walked with her.

Emelia kicked a rock as she walked.

"Come on then, ask me anything that you want to know about myself."

"I don't know." She grumbled, "I can't remember any of 'em. Your the one that's suppose to tell me about you, I don't like asking questions."

"Alright then, well my full name is Jamie Lee Evans, I turned 22 last year, soon to be 23, I have the power of sonic sound and echolocation. I have a really gorgeous girlfriend called Emelia, I love anything outdoorsy and I own a wolf called Timber." He looked at her. "Anything else you think I missed out?"

"I know nearly all of that stuff," She sighed, "Come on, tell me stuff I don't know Jamie."

"Alright then, I wasn't born here in the village, I was born in Florida, my parents moved here when I was 2. Someday I hope to go back to Florida, start a family and actually have a life that isn't based around being a studd. Also...I have been suffering from depression since I was 11." He looked at her as he said the last bit. "That's why I'm quiet."

Emelia frowned deeply at that, interlocking her fingers with his bad squeezing his hand gently, "Do you take medication to help?"

He interlocked his fingers with hers. "Yes I do."

Emelia gave a small nod, "I hope you start feeling happy again soon,"

"Admittedly, I do feel less depressed now that I'm with you."

"I'm glad I'm helping a bit," Emelia whispered with a small smile, squeezing his hand before asking gently, "What made you depressed?"

"Guilt over my mother mainly." He shrugged, moving his sleeves to show little criss crossed scars over his wrist. "Things just went from bad to worse."

Emelia lowered her gaze to his wrist and frowned deeply, "Ah baby," she whispered, sliding her arms around him gently.

He slid his arms around her in return.

"When was the last time you done that to yourself?"

"6 months ago."

"Proud of you for going this long," She whispered

He smiled slightly.

She smiled back at him, before whispering, "I never knew my mother, ever, she died whilst having me. My father was nice though, married my step mother whom was Marc's biological mother. Eventually they all got killed though, protecting me and Marc from the guards. That was two years ago now, Marc knew it was going to happen, too. He'd known all his life when we'd lose them."

"I wish that I could do what your brother can do, it would save my family a whole lot of heartache."

"He can't change 'em himself, sweetie, that's why he hates it. It's horrible. He knows when they're going to die, but not how, not why. If he tries to change it, he risks giving them a worse death or shortens there life even more. He just has to sit there and wait for it to happen really. I'm glad I don't have his power."

"I know, but if I knew then it would give us more time to get used to it."
