Ranger squirmed quietly and then admitted, as if not wanting to be heard. "I want the previous memories gone but my contact wouldn't allow it. Brain damage, it causes. If she had a big enough shock she'd remember everything. I would have felt bad keeping that a secret from you."

Chiquita wiped her neck slowly, trying to even out her breathing.

"In fact I think I made his life better. Citlali could not have come back with the memory of dying, she would go into shock and possibly never wake up. This way, they're just buried. And even given time they'll trickle slowly back through. I could have had those memories gone."

"Only if you're sure you can look after the little'un here. I won't leave otherwise."

"Brood and stay gone like he's done for the past few weeks? Or, as it pains me to say, try to get her to fall in love with him again? It wouldn't be hard. Whatever attracted her to him isn't gone."

Chiquita nodded and slowly stumbled to her feet, staggering down the hallway towards the bathroom.

Anjuli walked to the baby and she looked at her.

"What am I supposed to do if you're the reason? If we're not the reason then I'll take Citlali and go."

Chiquita managed to lock the door with shaking fingers and then sank to the floor, biting the side of her hand to stop herself from crying out.

"Nice to know that you don't care about me." She told him. "I know you're the only father figure that she knows, but surely you think that I should be given a thought at least consideri that I'm your girlfriend." She told him, as she left the kitchen.

Xander appeared a few seconds later.

"I'd be coming back." Ranger rolled his eyes, exasperated. "But if there's no point in Citlali being here then I'll take her somewhere safer. It isn't my fault that Alex isn't here to take part in this conversation."

Chiquita tried to mumble a question about whether he'd had any luck finding anyone but it came out as a slightly disjointed whimper of pain.

Moira walked to the stairs where Anjuli suddenly flew into her, leaving the baby in Chiquita's room.

Ranger threw his arms up in frustration. "Citlali!! I made a mistake. We're going to move to live with your Uncle and Aunt instead."

"Really?!" Citlali shouted back. "After it took so long to get here?! I lost my luggage on the plane."

Citlali briefly looked up from her phone, flat out ignoring Ranger now.

Evelyn looked at Citlali. "Hi, you haven't seen a little girl about yay high, with curly dark hair." She described Anjuli to her.

Xander leant against the sink.

"Yeah, as unique as the name is she mistook me for another Citlali. Ran in the direction." Citlali waved a hand dismissively in the direction.

Chiquita eventually moved a hand over her eyes and trembled quietly in pain .

Evelyn nodded. "Thank you." She looked at the stairs when Moira walked to her. "I found Alex."

After about another fifteen minutes, Chiquita shook awake with a quiet gasp.

Ranger rubbed the back of his neck. "Citlali I'm not having this argument with you."

"Then don't shuttle me all over the world!"

Evelyn smirked at seeing them argue, before she picked Anjuli up and held her as Moira went outside.

"I'm not going back! Okay? Not as if you could catch me to go anyway, sheesh. I'm a grown woman. I can make my own choices. Like where I live."

"I'm sorry. It's happening more often now I think." Chiquita pressed a hand to her neck and then to her hip u see her shirt. "Am I still warm?"
