The doctor, having decided they'd had enough time to talk, interrupted. "Would you like to know your child's gender?"

"Please just start communicating with me," Vanessa sighed, before nodding. "I do, you can leave for a minute if you don't." She directed the last part to Nate.

"A girl." Vanessa breathed, looking over at Nate with a smile.

"I'll give you two a few minutes alone whilst I go get your picture." The doctor told them before walking out.

Tatia nodded. "I'll go now, whilst they're quiet so it doesn't taint my memory." She laughed a little, hugging Astrid once more.

Vanessa reached over to take some paper towels, wiping off the gel before reaching over to take Nates hand and rest it on her bare stomach. "Our little girl will make it. I swear to you she will."

"Trying to what? Feel something for me or be my friend?" Vanessa whispered. "Because sometimes, when you do things like what you did earlier, and when you ask me how I am and you're nice to me I think both, and sometimes you can be so cold and harsh and I think neither."

Vanessa grabbed his hand and moved it from her stomach then, before smacking him across the face. "If our daughter dies it'll be your fault, everything you've put me through, all the pain and confusion and stress. You continue to torment me and hold your feelings secret and you know how I feel about you, and sometimes I wish I'd never even told you about our baby, because sometimes you're so fucking horrible and I don't know how much longer I can take it!" She suddenly snapped, tears threatening to leak from her eyes, face vamping out. "I'm carrying your baby and sometimes it's like you look at me no different than an incubator for her. I'm terrified and confused and lonely and depressed and not lookin forward to this like I should be because of you! And if you dare stay silent or shrug or berate me for this or walk away then me leaving this room will be the last you'll see of both me and your daughter!" She added, before leaning back on the bed and blinking rapidly, feeling a little lightheaded after all the shouting.

((Awh poor Ness, he was so nice before. I actually feel quite sorry for her, does Nate actually feel anything for her? Or is he just toying with her?))

"My parents wouldn't touch you, they're letting you stay alive now aren't they? Because I told them to." Vanessa pointed out. "And I don't think you realise how happy it would make me Nate. The past few months have been hell without you." She whispered. "And as for my paranoia, I have reason to be paranoid, but I'll work on it, for us. Please Nate, we have to at least give this a try."
