"Your hand," Astrid laughed, "The pain you felt in your hand is nothing compared to what I was going through."

"Fine," Nate replied with a deep sigh, "I'll see what I can do…"

Vanessa smiled and leaned over to take his hand, squeezing it a little.

((Were you gonna create someone new whilst she was still pregnant, or wait until after she'd had the baby and was alone?))

"It was worth it though, mm?" Kol smiled as he looked down at his sons.

(( I'm not sure to be honest, haha. ))

Nate watched her quietly, squeezing her hand a moment or two later.

Astrid turned her head to follow his gaze, nodding a little bit in response as she whispered, "They're so amazing, aren't they?"

Vanessa leaned over, and very cautiously pressed her lips to his, expecting him to pull back any second.

((I can see the drama in it both ways tbh))

"They're amazing." Kol repeated in agreement. "I'm glad you talked me into it."

"And you've done brilliantly so far, too, transitioning into being a father." Astrid smiled, glancing up at him. "Keep it up."

(( Yeah, I might bring him into it whilst she's pregnant and Nate's there. What species should the guy be? ))

Nate kissed her back briefly before pulling away.

Vanessa smiled, leaning into him a bit. "I promise you, she'll survive," she said as she rested a hand on her stomach. "And when she gets here she's going to love her daddy so much."

((Vampire? But like possibly an older one, like old enough that Klaus has heard of him? Idk just thinking of drama ideas xD))

"I'm gonna jinx everything by saying this, but it came easier than I thought it would, as soon as I held them."

Nate just sighed softly, resting his hand on Vanessa's bump and whispering, "You heard what the doctor said…"

Astrid smiled and gave a nod, "I knew you didn't have to be scared of anything,"

"I did." Vanessa nodded. "But I also know that she's gonna make it, she's gonna make it and be just fine in the end." She whispered. "She will."

"It's still scary. It's gonna get scarier."

Astrid looked up and rested her hand on his cheek gently, "But it'll be just fine, and we're going to raise them to be amazing young gentlemen." she smiled.

Nate just sighed softly.

Vanessa just squeezed his hand softly, looking up when the doctor came back in and handed Nate the scan picture. "You can go now, we'll contact you about another appointment sometime soon."

"Thank you." Vanessa smiled.

Kol just laughed a little at that. "Since they're sleeping we should probably go crack open then blue paint for their bedroom. I'm sure Ness won't mind us painting over the butterflies."

Astrid gave a nod in response, "Let me change into some already paint-covered clothes." she grinned before heading up the stairs.

Nate just looked at the photo quietly before getting to his feet and offering Vanessa a hand up.

Vanessa took his hand gratefully, pulling herself up after adjusting her top down.

Kol laughed and followed her up.

Astrid got changed quickly before heading into the twins room.

Nate watched her quietly before heading out of the hospital.

Kol was already in there, cracking open the paint tins.

Vanessa followed out at his side. "I'm gonna go to work, I'm meeting my parents there to tell them how the scan went, but once my shift is over I can come round to the apartment, if you want?"

"If you want," Nate replied Witt a small nod in response, "I'll see you later then, I suppose,"

Astrid sat down beside him and picked up a painbrush.

Vanessa smiled, leaning up and gently pressing her lips to his briefly before heading off to the restaurant.

Kol nudged a paint tin over, dipping his own brush in and starting to paint.

Nate watched her go before going to the apartment quietly without another word.

Astrid began to paint too quietly.

Vanessa headed into the restaurant, looking round for her parents.

Kol made his way around the room with the first coat.

Klaus was sat at a table with Tatia, his head rested on hers as he waited for Vanessa quietly.

Astrid done the same.

"Hey." Vanessa greeted quietly as he sat next to her father.

"Hi honey." Tatia smiled, "How're you and baby?"

"Uh, not great." Vanessa admitted.

Kol stopped and grimaced an hour or so later when Adrian started crying.

He caught her and got her to resurface.

Klaus frowned deeply at that, "What's wrong?"

"I'll go see to him," Astrid sighed, getting to her feet and putting some paint across Kol's cheek playfully as she walked past him. Wiping the rest of the paint from her hands onto her jeans she headed down the stairs and picked Adrian up, "Hey little man," she greeted.

Falin laughed quietly and glanced to him.

"She's not growing properly, there's not enough room because of the scar tissue... They don't know if she's gonna make it till birth, and if she does then she's gonna need help for a while." Vanessa said quietly, leaning into her father.  "She's a girl, by the way." She added with a little laugh.

"Oh honey." Tatia frowned, reaching over and rubbing Vanessa's arm.

Adrian wailed in his mothers arms, hands fisted and eyes squeezed shut.

He smiled, kissing her forehead.

Klaus frowned deeply and hugged Vanessa gently, smoothing her hair down soothingly.

"Sshh," Astrid soothed, hugging him gently and inhaling to see if he needed his diaper changed.

Falin kissed him on the lips in return.
