Around four weeks later, Olivia groaned as the sun filtered through the blinds of hers and Adams room.

"Dad!" Karina called Leon on her way out from the house. "Mums passed out in the bathroom again!"

L.J followed Karina out.

"Thanks for telling me, Kari," Leon called back with a small sigh, adding, "Have a good day, you two." before heading up the stairs and into the bathroom to see Vanessa.

"Rise and shine, sweetheart." Adam hummed cheerfully, already showered and changed.

"Checkmate. I win, again." Tamara chimed happily as she moved her chess piece over one of Adrian's.

Karina walked by her brothers side.

Vanessa was curled up on the floor, having gotten up to be sick and ended up too exhausted to work her way back to bed.

"Why? Do I have to?"

"Mm." Adrian nodded

"Told you I was good," Tamara pointed out with a small smile, "Unless you are just letting me win, which'd be extremely annoying."

"Not in the mood for today," L.J frowned.

Leon crouched down beside her and pulled her so she was sat up right and he had his arm around her to support her, "You okay, butterfly?"

"We stayed in bed all day yesterday, so yes,"

"And you're complaining about that?"

"Mm." Vanessa mumbled as she lolled against him. In the past month she'd grown thinner and gaunt, much like she had before Karina.

"You're skipping?"

"You smile when you win and I like seeing you smile..."

"No... I'm going, I just don't want to. Are you?"

"When you got this bad with Kari, we lost you Ness." Leon pointed out quietly, brushing his fingers through her hair and kissing the top of her head.

"No, not complaining one bit. I just think we need to do something today that's all... At least in the morning for an hour or two.. I want to spend time with you before I have to go to the garage to work."

Tamara just laughed almost silently at that, "You're adorable, you know that? I'd rather play a fair game though."

"If I don't they'll phone dad so..."

"If you're suggesting what I think you are then don't bother."

"We can play again later then."

"Ah yeah, you have work." Olivia groaned.

"Mhmm, so get up so we can do something now?" Adam asked quietly.

"Mm," Tamara hummed frowning a bit before tilting her head to the side and studying him in silence for a moment. "Why not now? You planning to do something today?"

"I'm not suggesting anything.."

L.J just nodded a bit in response to that

"You didn't lose me because of how ill I was, you lost me because I was human." Vanessa pointed out. "I'll be fine once the sickness stops... You might have to phone Nate, tell him I can't make it to the scan though."

Olivia nodded, getting up and padding out of bed to get her clothes.

"Thanks. I don't feel well enough to go...."

"Nope."

"It's fine, I could tell." Leon replied, "Can you stand or should I carry you to the bed?"

Adam smiled a little bit and watched her.

"Just bored of chess then, huh?"

"A little."

"Enjoying the view?" Olivia laughed as she dressed.

"I could walk but a lift would be appreciated."

"Guess it would get boring if you are purposely trying to lose," Tamara mused, asking quietly, "What'd you like to do then? Go for a walk, or a drink at that cafe or..."

"Mm," Adam hummed in confirmation.

Leon just nodded, picking her up and getting to his feet, carrying her out of the room.

Olivia rolled her eyes a little. "what do you have in mind for today?"

"I'm up for anything."

Vanessa snuggled into his chest.

"I was hoping you had an idea," He admitted, "I only have an hour or two before I have to go, so.."

"Anything at all?"

Leon kissed the top of her head

"My ideas don't involve getting dressed."

"Thanks for helping me."

"Mm." Adrian nodded.

Adam just laughed a little bit and nodded, "I guessed."

"Don't be silly, why wouldn't I help you, butterfly?"

Tamara pulled a face before getting to her feet and walking around the chess table to him, perching herself on the edge of his lap before twisting around, resting her hand on his cheek before pressing a gentle, quick, kiss to his lips.

"Because the baby isn't yours and it's my fault for not being careful that I'm in this mess."

Adrian stiffened a little initially, not expecting her to kiss him.

"You complaining?"

"Your mine though," Leon replied with a small shrug. "I'm not going to hold it against you... I told you to move on and you did, I'm just glad you're mine again."

Tamara brushed her thumb against his cheek before quickly kissing his cheek as she now normally did, as if that'd erase the kiss to his lips. A moment later getting to her feet and walking back to her chair opposite him.

He shook his head in the negative.

"I'll always be yours." Vanessa mumbled.

"I - " Adrian stuttered as he flushed bright red.

"Didn't think so."

Tamara just laughed nervously, blushing herself as she lowered her gaze onto the chess board and began to fiddle with the pieces coyly.

"M'glad... So grateful."

He laughed a bit.

"I'm not bad for my age, mm?"

"I'm more grateful to have someone like you."

"W-why?" Adrian finally asked when he could form words again.

"You're cute... I like you... You're so nice to me." She whispered almost silently with a small shrug, "I- I didn't want to wait for ages, in case it got weird because we'd of been friends until whenever that'd be and it'd ruin everything. Least now if you don't like me back, that's that, I can get over it and we could still be friends without it being weird."

"Mm," Leon hummed, placing her down on the bed gently.

"Definitely not, you're beautiful."

"And you're a suck up, but a very cute suck up."

"I- I.. I uh, I uh... well, I - " Adrian started, trying to tell her he liked her too, but couldn't quite the the words out.

"What time do you have to be at the stables?" Vanessa asked.
