"You live round here long?"

"A while, tried staying home, whilst Holly was growing up but vampirism doesn't work over there because of witches. So, you can imagine the perfect parent made my life a living hell over it, especially when Holly got attacked - as if I could do anything to protect her when I was a wolf myself at the time. Then I got shot, died, they brought me back for Holly and now I live here. Was forced to for years and years, they made it so if I stepped foot on home it'd kill me again."

Leon tensed slightly but nodded, mumbling, "I agree with him for once there, butterfly."

"I care about him and I'm not going to pretend otherwise. If I acted like I hated him then he'd have a of at me saying I was lying about my feelings and I'm horrible."

"You were willing to die and have your child live forever without you?"

"No, I was willing to see Holly as often as I could for the time that was natural, that's completely different to how you put it. That's wanting it to be natural."

"You don't have to be physically caring though."

"I can do as I like Leon, don't -" Vanessa snapped before doubling over with a groan and burying her face in her pillow.

"I just wanted a little bit of normality for her. It isn't that awful, not as awful as everyone made it out to be. People born immortal, always want some kind of normality, even if it is just a taste of it by coming and seeing me in Hawaii where things were fairly normal. I wanted her to know my side of the family, and learn how to accept and how to deal with human-ish life. It wasn't as selfish as it seems, don't make out like it was selfish and heartless. I've had enough of that lecture from everyone I've gotten to know in this pathetic place. It's what makes me despise it here, how everyone hates me, I'm only here for Holly."

Leon sighed and rubbed her back.

"Go away. If you're going to get all jealous over me holding Nate's hand go away." Vanessa mumbled, voice tight with pain. "Call my dad and ask where he is or something."

"And your forthcoming child too." Kali reminded.

Leon rolled his eyes.

Vanessa just mumbled something else then, though it was muffled by the covers.

Within a few minutes Vanessa's medication had set in and she was asleep, curled up and snoring softly.

Kali nodded. "A scared child."

Nate just nodded as he entered the bar and got them both drinks.

"I forget English when I'm too drunk." Kali warned him softly.

Vanessa blinked her eyes open a good few hours later, lifting her head to see who was with her.

Nate laughed a bit and had a few sips of his drink.

"Hey there Ness," Klaus greeted from the bedside, resting his hand on his daughters. "Leon told me to tell you he's gone home to be with the kids, but'll be back tomorrow."

"Daddy." Vanessa greeted groggily.

Kali took a few sips of her own.

"Tired. Achy, sick." Vanessa mumbled as she squeezed her fathers hand. "Annoyed, pissed... Tired."
