She slid her hand into his and glanced at the house. "Feel like pissing a house full of people off or go somewhere else?"

"I have no where else, but your idea sounds more fun."

Cali laughed grabbing his hand. "Come on then, just don't be a major ass in there."

"Well with Alice it's much too fun."

"Yeah but Alice has a house full of guys in there...they'll back her up in an instant," she muttered heading inside and straight towards her room.

He followed her.

If they passed anyone she didn't even notice pushing her door shut behind them.

He looked around her room.

Alice was in the kitchen listening to the radio to make sure that there was nothing going on.

Frankie was with her.

She kicked off her sneakers and flopped on her bed watching him.

Alice eventually turned the radio off, starting to pace.

He watched her.

"What's the matter?"

Cali held out a hand to him.

"Something's wrong." She told him, pacing across the kitchen.

He walked to her and interlocked their hands.

He raised an eyebrow. "We sorta know this...your brother is officially around."

Closing her fingers around his she tugged him down against her, casting a quick glance at the door to check that she had locked it not that it would matter really if someone wanted or needed to get in.

"I know." Something next to her suddenly exploded. "How the hell am I supposed to keep Hayden safe now?"

He moved to lay beside her.

"We're all going to keep her safe Alice,not just you. It's going to be okay."

She rolled onto her side and slid an arm around him her hand resting beneath his shirt on his lower back.

"But I'm Hayden's guardian!" She almost shouted, looking at him and then realised that she had never actually told anyone that.

He held her close.

"Are you sure you don't want me to clean your wings for you?"

"Does she know that?"

"No." Alice sighed. "I've never seen the point of telling her."

"If you want to." He shrugged.

He moved to sit up and he moved so that he had his back to her and he shrugged off his jacket, making his wings appear.

"No, you don't have to tell her. Most of us don't."

She sat up behind him gently brushing her fingers down his back. "Matthew..."

"I know." She sighed.

He glanced back at her. "Yeah?"

He nodded opening his arms to her.

"Does it hurt?" She slipped off her bed and went into her closet for a first aid kit.

"A bit."

She walked straight into his arms.

He held her tightly.

She sat back down and gently dabbed a cloth over his back cleaning him up slowly.
