"Chris hid them somewhere, that's why he never turned. He wanted the location to die with him." Max told her, "That way he thought he could keep everyone safe."

"Jester? The only joke here is you, mate," Elijah snarled.

She nodded. "It makes sense." She was quiet for a few minutes. "If you could... Would you use them?" She asked quietly.

Abi smacked him on the head. "Shut up Elijah."

The alpha snarled but Abi got in his way. "He's young, it's his first day."

Max shook his head in the negative, "Maybr years ago, when I first learned of the pack and I still had the hunting family but now, now no. I'm ok, with who I am. What about you?"

Elijah just glared at the alpha, going silent but maintaining eye contact.

She shook her head. "No."

The alpha was obviously bigger and stronger than him but Abi looked to him. "Elijah, show some respect, advert your eyes." She whispered to him.

'I'm no jester," Elijah snarled, keeping the eye contact.

Max nodded. "Good." He mused, whispering after a couple of minutes, "Don't... don't laugh but it hurt, just seeing his hand writing. It hurt that Oliver got a letter, but Jeni and I didn't. It hurt that in it he wrote that he didn't know if I would still be around for the two of them."

"Go home Elijah." She hissed, her own alpha persona coming out and it would have been hard because she knew how to use it.

She nodded. "A that makes sense." She told him.

Elijah flinched at that, moving his glare to her instead but not doing so well with challenging her as he had been with the other alpha. Soon turning and heading back toward the pack.

"I just... thought he knew how much I love them, and him a- and he obviously didn't." Max added, stumbling over words then before lifting his hand up to cover his eyes.

Abi sighed as she watched him go. She didn't come. Back to the pack for a long while, so long she had to text Madoc to tell him she wasn't going to be home for lunch.

"Max think back to how you were back then, you felt you didn't belong here or with the hunters or with the vampires,." She told him. "Maybe he thought you would be travelling or would have decided to go back to the town."

"Exactly, I didn't know where I belonged but they were home to me."

She nodded. "I'm not sure what to tell you Max, all I know so that towards the end he loved you like a brother and Jeni and Oliver still do."

Max just shook his head, heading into the main room and sitting down on the sofa. Simply staring ahead at the wall.

Will do. She got home at the beginning of thevening and she was sporting a newly cut lip and a black eye.

She turned the stove off and she moved to sit next to him.

"What happened?" Madoc asked with a frown when he saw her, walking over and resting his fingertips beneath her chin. Lifting her head up to inspect the injuries more, "I'm going to get you an ice pack for that, go sit down."

Max watched her

"Some meat from the freezer is a bit more useful, takes down the swelling and becomes my tea." She sighed as she sat down. "Elijah just lost us a very important deal,and they don't think I am fit to be alpha of the pack."

She gently started to massage his shoulders.

"Your having an ice pack, it's more sanitary." Madoc answered with an eyeroll. Pulling one out of the first aid kit and holding it to her injury for her. "You've got to give me more detail than that, firecracker. How does losing a deal result in you getting hurt?"

He closed his eyes at that, whispering, "What are you doing?"

"Well originally Elijah disgraced the head alpha, showed no respect, so I sent him home then they were asking for his head but of course he's my cousin so I couldn't let them and then they ended the deal for food to see us through to the winter and an argument started, it was a lucky punch."

"Trying to help you feel better."

"I'm sure something can be worked out for winter food," Madoc answered quietly. "There is plenty of other packs to make deals with, what about your grandfather? He has his own pack, right? He could help."

"Its working,"

"They don't have enough for the winter either." She sighed. "I'll think of something, I'm sure."

She smiled softly. "Good."

"Of course you will, you always do." Madoc answered, sliding an arm around her to pull her closer and hold her. Keeping the ice pack against her face as he done so. "What are you going to do about Elijah?"

"Kill him." SHe told him. "I'm sick of his attitude, I'm not going to have him as my trainee alpha and if he doesn't cut the attitude I'm going to let the other wolves beat him up and I might go as far as to kick him out, what he has caused is serious."

"If you were really going to do that, you would of handed him over to those alphas and avoided getting hurt."

"He's part of my pack, it's not for them to sort out." SHe sighed. "What would you do with him?"

"I'm not a wolf, and I know better than to tell you what to do. Beatings was part of my training before my first time going out too, they never taught me anything but others learned from them. As I said, I'm no wolf, bottom of the heap here so.. you do what you have to, or want to. I've got your back no matter what."

She nodded. "Say you were though?" She asked.

"If I were, I'd tell you death is a bit harsh and letting him get beaten - it might work but, it also might damage your relationship with his parents, and Alyssa. Its a balancing act, I don't know the answer or the right advice. You just need to do the best you can."
