“Wine in here for you too…”

"Can you bring it in here?" She asked quietly, voice hoarse.

Tobias came in with the glass a few moments later, sitting beside her and kissing the top of her head as he handed it over.

"Are we okay?" She asked, slowly; hesitant to hear the the answer.

“Always…”

Tesni put her glass of wine to the side then, holding her arms out to him.

Tobias pulled her up onto his lap, holding her close.

Tesni curled into his chest, burying her face in the crook of his neck as she stated quietly; "I'm really scared."

“Me too… me too. But we’ll get you through this. I’ll be here.”

Tesni tangled her fingers in the back of his shirt, solent then - voice too sore to talk.

(( No idea I was hoping you had a plan. I am winging it. Until they find find about Tes I guess? So initial family reaction - to big meeting about the pill - so on and so forth. It'd probably spook River out too ))

((Two weeks or so maybe then?))

"It isnt like you and Tobias to put the kids to bed before dessert." Cain mused as Tesni placed a small slice of cheesecake in front of everyone in hers and Tobias' home two weeks later. "I thought they'd be screeching for a slice."

"They don't know there is dessert, and.. well, we have news." Tesni mumbled, glancing towards Wren to see if she understood what was about to happen.

“Oh?” Mila hummed, raising her eyebrow as she picked up a fork. “You have news?”

“Is this about the thing at work? You said they were looking for someone to take a senior position for your company, have they finally asked you?” Karsi asked with a smile.

Wren reached her hand out and squeezed her sisters gently, offering her a look of reassurance as Tobias gently patted her shoulder.

"Oh, I mean - I have an interview yeah they - they offered me one yesterday but I don't know if I am going to even go to it." Tesni whispered, lifting her hand up to catch Tobias' hand gently.

"Oh you'll do fine, most of the time interviews are a formality." Louis chuckled.

Nathan wrinkled his nose suspiciously, raising an eyebrow at Wren in silent question as she noticed the look.

“You’re borderline guaranteed it then! This is great!” Karsi clapped happily. “Sorry Mila but I feel like the rest of us should get to enjoy some champagne to celebrate. Tobi do you have any in?”

“I - no. We don’t have anything to celebrate, Karsi.”

Wren moved to lean against Nathan, resting her hand on his leg under the table.

"What's going on Wren?" Nathan whispered in her ear, leaning over.

"Nothing to celebrate? There is always something to celebrate. I am sure Mila will be fine with us having a glass each. An interview offer is a huge deal." Louis laughed.

Cain raised an eyebrow at Tobias then.

"I uh.. I- Tobi can you?"

“Tesni has cancer… we don’t know how but we’ve had second and third opinions and they’ve all said the same thing. There’s been no mistake.” Tobias said quietly, wrapping an arm around his wife’s shoulders.

“She made me swear not to tell anyone till she was ready.” Wren murmured back to Nathan, quietly so she couldn’t be overheard.

Karsi shook her head, brows furrowing. “Tesni… baby. No. No.” She whispered, shaking her head again before crossing the room to hug her daughter. Not noticing when the glass of juice Mila was drinking slipped from her hand and smashed on the floor.

Cain swallowed thickly, hand slipping his arms around Mila'a waist so no one else would notice his arm go shake. "I- but - I don't understand how that is possible. The- the pill prevents all of that."

"The reason you were at the hospital?" Nate asked quietly

Tesni slowly lifted her arms up to hug her mother back, though her eyes focused on Mila.

“S-sorry.” Mila whispered, shakily getting up out of her seat. “I’ll get it cleaned up.” She added, having gone drip white and visibly shaking as she walked into the kitchen to search for a brush.

“It should, but it hasn’t. We don’t know if it was a faulty batch, or if it was just the one Tesni had or what. And we won’t find out until after the treatment. She’s not a lab rat everyone’s going to be poking and prodding.” Tobias said quickly.

“We’ll get you the same doctors we got Mila okay? The very very best ones.”

Wren nodded sadly, kicking her shoes off under the table and bringing her knees to her chest.

(( Sorry I am slow. Music has been brought into the garden and we are 3 bottles of prosecco in so impromptu garden party consisting of me, my mum and the dogs has began ))

"That's the issue though isn't it... Mila. This is going tovturn into everyone wanted to comfort Mila or comparing it to Mila. All I'll hear is Mila, Mila fucking Mila."

"Fuck you Tesni." Cain hissed shakily, getting to his feet and following Tesni into the kitchen "Mila, let - let's go home. Come on, we don't don't to hear this kind of stuff."

"You could of told me. I wouldn't of told anyone " Nate frowned. "It upsets me you dealt with that news alone."

Louis stared at the table, whispering to Tobias; "We'll get others looked at first, have data compiled. I won't let them poke and prod at Tesni either, don't worry. They'll have to get through the two of us."

“Sorry baby, sorry. I won’t do that, I just meant we’d get the doctors we know are god at what they do okay? I’m here for you, every step of the way.” Karsi rubbed her back gently.

“Getting Tesni well again is the priority, the only thing that matters.” Tobias nodded.

“I promised her nobody… it’s a promise I needed to keep.”

“N-not home.” Mila shook her head. “H-hospital. They need to test me. Need to check up on the babies. I could - it could be back any moment…”
