He rested against her staying silent for a while. “Maybe he’s right, maybe I should have died.”

"Be quiet, I don't want to hear any of that." She reprimanded, though her voice remained soft. Fingertips moving up to gently graze the skin at the nape of his neck in a soothing motion. "Don't believe a word that man just said to you. You are more than your wings, Numbers. You are more than a title. And I don't know what I would have done to come all the way out here just to find your body."

“Might have been less shameful than having to sit through that.”

"Well I think that's really fucking selfish of you. You're 'shame' is more traumatising then me finding your body on top of all the bodies I found?! In a place I don't know where I feel like my skin on fire. Oh and where everyone is trying to hurt me. Your shame is more traumatising then your sister and mother's grief if you had died?! You are being selfish and you are allowing yourself to be manipulated."

Zero shrugged. He just looked like a broken man. “They would have gotten over it now they have to live with the fact that im alive somewhere and they can’t talk to me or see me.”

"Well sorry for saving your fucking life." She hissed, moving away and getting to her feet then. "I'm going home, don't want to stay in this place anymore."

“You know I don’t get you sometimes,” he told her. “I’m allowed to be upset aren’t I? I’m allowed to feel a bit depressed right?”

"You get to be that over your dad being a dick, not over me risking my life for yours. I'm tired, and thirsty and everything hurts so I'm going home..." She mumbled, walking out of the room and heading towards the exit of the Palace.

“You won’t be able to get out without an angel to let you out and unfortunately I can’t, you’re probably safer waiting here.” He advised as he followed her. “But I didn’t mean to make you feel like I didn’t care about you risking your life.”

"I fucking trekked across the middle of no where by myself with all the danger for three days! I can handle walking two hundred yards up the damn road to the door I came in through." She hissed. "I am just as done all of this as you are, Zero. Difference is you are home right now, I'm not. I need to go home, and I don't want to hear this bullshit coming out of your mouth- wanting to die and that. Well sorry. Next time I won't do the scariest thing I have ever fucking done and you can rot out there!"

Zero looked to her. “I understand.”

"No you don't." She mumbled, closing the door behind herself as she left.

Zero sat on the edge of his bed until the next morning where he let himself into the flat above the bar, Scarlets things were gone his fathers servants had taken them in the night and he sat on the sofa staring at the now empty space. He didn’t know what to do, he didn’t know if he should call Florence and try to talk to her or not.

"Typical man." Florence mused quietly from behind him, having entered the flat half an hour before him to scope it out. "No decoration. All of the stuff that made it a home was Scarlett's, hm?"

“She was the decorator, she said my style was too dark and gloomy.” He told her as he looked to her, he had already opened a fresh bottle of whisky.

"You need to move in with me. Rather than be sat here alone and miserable."
