Hope Falls

“I’m a fool aren’t I?” Ada whispered, swallowing thickly in shame as she ducked her gaze. “All this time I - I haven’t done it much, but when I’ve been intimate with someone it’s because I thought it would make them love me, and then I’d be confused when they’d leave after anyway. I always thought I was just doing it all wrong - and that’s why I’ve not in a long time because I thought I was broken and that’s why it didn’t work, why they didn’t stay…”

“Would you want me to pressure Emmett about the things I’m not too fond of with him?” Dagmar frowned. “Just because you wouldn’t be happy in my relationship doesn’t mean I’m not…”

“Okay, okay.” Isolde chuckled as she headed into the bathroom.

"I never said that! Just leave me alone." Karina answered sharply before walking away; leaving the palace and heading into the market town in search of Emmett's patrol.

Dmitri frowned, brushing his thumb against her cheek before wrapping his arms around her shoulders instead to pull her into a hug. "You aren't broken, Ada. There is no such thing..."

“I’m so stupid, I feel so stupid…”

Dagmar sighed deeply, shaking her head.

Emmett was at the entrance of the village, standing idly as he kept an eye out.

"Hi handsome," Karina greeted quietly as she came up behind him, arm snaking around the back of his torso as she leant up to press her lips to his cheek. "You look bored."

"You're not stupid either, stop it. Shut up." Dmitri laughed quietly then. "No more talking about yourself like that, the next thing out of your mouth has to be positive."

“What about the next thing on my mouth?” Ada whispered, deciding there was no way she could be even further embarrassed.

“And you’re heavy footed as always.” Emmett chuckled as he moved his hand to catch hers.

"Mm, smooth. You have game, Lady of the Lake." Dmitri praised with a grin, ducking his head to brush his lips against hers gently; allowing his teeth to graze her lower lip.

"I am carrying two extra people, I am allowed go be heavy footed." Karina smiled. "Slow day?"

Ada kissed him back tenderly, moving her hand to the side of his face as she deepened the kiss.

“Very, but improved now you’ve come to see me.”

"It will improve even more in a second," Karina grinned, moving so she could stand directly in front of him; offering her palms out; "Can I take your hands?"

Dmitri tightened his grip on her waist, trying ot catch his breath before giving in and guiding her toward the wall to pin her against it.

“Oh.” Ada giggled as her back hit the wall. “I like this…” she whispered

“Have you brought me lunch?” Emmett asked excitedly as he held his arms out.

"I'm not your slave, rude." Karina snorted softly in light amusement, taking his hands and guiding them to her bump; one of each hand so he could feel both of the babies moving. "Dasha thinks the fact they are moving could mean they're girls. We might be meeting them earlier than we thought."

"I like this too." He laughed softly against her lips, tilting his head to kiss just behind her ears and down her neck; tongue trailing lazily.

“Oh, oh…” Ada hummed in content, closing her eyes.

Emmmett raised his eyebrows, his face showing his shock as he felt the movements. “This is incredible - how does it feel for you?”

"Strange... the feeling you have when you get butterflies."

Dmitri laughed quietly against his skin, leaning up to kiss her lips briefly once more before stepping back.

Ada kissed him back when his lips were against hers, a flash of disappointment across her face as he pulled away.

“It doesn’t hurt or anything?”

"No, no I don't think they are big enough for it to hurt yet."

"Are my feelings clear enough to you now?" Dmitri asked, voice quite; bashful.

“I don’t know, I think I still need some convincing you actually like me.” Ada grinned, lacing her arms around his neck.

“But bigger than expected?”

"Well, you'll have to wait; won't you?" Dmitri laughed quietly, hands resting gently on her waist. "That is all you are getting for now."

"Mm, if they are angel babies they shouldn't be moving yet. They must be Seer."

“Lucky them, nothing like me.”

“That’s cruel…”

"I am sure they will be plenty like you," Karina laughed quietly, resting her hands over his.

"It is not," Dmitri laughed quietly. "Don't be silly."

“What now…”

“Let’s hope not.”

"What uh... what do you want all of this to mean?"

"Lets hope not because otherwise they will be crippling infuriating, yes." Karina teased softly. "But let's hope so too."

“Are we being silly? I - we could be called back home any moment and… can we even be together?” Ada whispered, washed with doubt.

“We shall see sooner than we though, mm?”

"We could be called home at any minute, yes, but.. I don't see it happening anytime soon; not with how long we have been here, not when the Queen likes us so much. Who would babysit the child?"

"It seems so," She nodded, glancing over her shoulder towards the tree line as her smile faded into a frown. "You should get someone to take over for you, finish up for the day."

“You’re going to have to be patient with me… if you want this… I don’t really know what I’m doing…”

“I’ll see if I can get off early.” Emmett nodded, brushing his hand across her face then.

"No, no you will get off early and - and make your replacement put a wolf trap over there... Next to the old oak tree, just - just in case."

"I don't go full speed with everything," Dmitri assured with a quiet laugh. "These things are better slow."
