Safety in the Forest

You thought that you were safe. You thought that they loved you. People like you were once thought of as the next stage of human evolution, some even thought of you as gods. But suddenly you’re alone. Parents become strangers. Friends become enemies. All thanks to the new government initiative. They called you a monster, a threat! So, some people became just that. Using their ability for destruction and chaos, whilst others tried to make people see the difference in the world. Others went on the run to protect those that tried to help. What ever happened to you, you now end up here at The Forest, to change your life or hide from the world.

]The Initiative
It's full name is the Safety of Mankind Initiative. It came into place in 2020, lucky enough we had Covid and this to contend with. The Initiative is meant to safeguard those with special abilities from persecution, to keep track of those with power, but instead it caused it. People in power were using it to keep count on those who were different, but it also lead to a lot of people being found and persecuted as well. The Initiative defines someone with a special ability as someone dangerous even if their ability is meant to heal. it made people who were once helpful citizens, working as nurses and fire fighters as no more than criminals. They weren't allowed to have jobs, go to school, have access to medical care or anything. They are now classified by this initiative as the scum of the earth. And that is how people who used to be close to them, perceive them. First it was protests, then it was outright murder. As soon as someone with an ability was found trying to defend themself, power or not, they were shot or tasered. So many people have died because of this, so now those with abilities are on the run and in hiding.

Welcome to the Forest. A safe haven for all whether you be on the run or in hiding. The Forest has everything that you might need. It’s a community for all involved. We live in the trees, each tree has a house built into it, met by walkways and rope ladders to get to and from. We live without many restrictions and barriers. There is no impenetrable barrier for safety, it depends on you, The Forest depends on secrecy from all involved. There are very little rules to our way of life. The main rule is that we don’t hurt each other and that we help each other to survive, be it from the government, other people or even each other sometimes. It’s a bit old fashioned, living off the land and such, but getting service in the middle of the forest is difficult at best. So welcome to The Forest, we hope you enjoy your life here.


Summary
This is an RP for people with supernatural abilities, your power is up to you, but there are some limitations, there is no one who is completely indestructible. Everyone can die. You can be from any background you want. You can be a thief, a liar, a flirt or once a successful businessman.

Power: Christina can control the elements and she has good control over some of the elements however she is unable to remain in control when she is angry and has been known to cause a few earthquakes.
History: I was born in London, we lived with our mum, she had powers too, we were happy and then the neighbours ratted us out to the government and now I have no mum and my sister and I are on the run, that's why we ended up here. That was four years ago and we've spent the past four years making the forest our home

History: I was born in Toronto, my wings came in when I reached ten years old, the townsfolk called me their modern day angel. Then the initiative came into place. I was shunned from my home, so I left and found this place. I've been here for about three years, and I've made friends with many of them here.

I went on the run, using my ability whenever I could to survive. I came to the Forest about a year ago and it seems okay so far.

Christine was sat on the edge of the river not far from the encampment in the forest, she was gathering water for the crops her sister was trying to grow. Her sister never let her use her powers on everything, most of the crops she did but she refused to let her touch this small area of crops that she had, saying that she wanted to do it the old fashioned way. She stood at the edge of the water using her own powers to bend the water from the river into the buckets filling each one.

Talia was knelt in front of a small garden patch below her reehouse that she shared with her sister and daughter, and she was tending to some newly planted crops - they looked like the start of potatoe plants. she was immersed in her own world that she didn't hear her daughter Anya com e up to the side of her until she was sat next to her playing in the mud. Though it made her jump she could not help but smile at her daughter.

Soren was watching Talia and Anya from his own tree house, he had one of the highest built because of his wings and he smiled as he watched his friend, before he took off flying down to the ground. He was heading out into the normal community away from the forest for supplies.

Marcus meanwhile was already in the town, he was just wandering around the town looking for anything worthwhile. He was thankful that his ability was not easily noticeable, he just had a red ring around his eyes permanently, but he managed to play it out that he wore contact lenses. That seemed to work for now.

In the local coffee shop, a woman stood behind the counter. Her dyed teal coloured hair pulled up into a messy bun and concealed under a grotesque baseball cap that came as part of her uniform. Tattooed sleeves visible, of varying colours and designs - her own skin an art tapestry. The name tag she bore stating 'Parker' in pretty writing.

The first place that Soren decided to go was the coffee shop he managed to hide his wings for now, his long hair tied back in a messy bun. He walked into the coffee shop and waited to be served avoiding a lot of the people in there just as an impulse

"Next please," Parker called gently.

Silence walked over. “Hey iced latte please?” He asked.

"Sure."

“Hey Soren.” He turned to find at us behind him. “Paying for me too?”

“You can buy your own you know.”

“Oh come on Featherball you and I have to stick together.” He looked to Parker. “Americano please love.”

"One customer at a time," Parker answered pleasantly, "If you aren't together, then go to the back of the line please, sir. I will get to you when it is your turn."

“It’s fine, I’ll pay for his.” Soren assured her.

“Aww you’re an angel.” Marcus told him

Parker nodded, placing the americano down in front of Marcus a moment later.

“Cheers love.”

Soren just rolled his eyes before he looked to Parker. “How much do I owe you?”

"Eight dollars, please..." She whispered, trying not to look visibly uncomfortable at the pet names.

“Ignore him he’s an ass.” Soren told her with a smile as he handed over the money.

"I grow tired of people who don't know me thinking they can call me love. I am nobody's love."

“Duly noted…Well, would you like to join me for a coffee later?” He asked.

"I - What?"

"Would you like to join me for a coffee later?" He asked her.

"No, no I heard you but , why?"

He shrugged. "Why not?" He asked. "Thought we could get to know each other."

"Why?" She repeated the question.

“I’ve seen you around a few times and I thought you were quite interesting.”

"'How?"
