“This blind date I’m meant to be going on keeps cancelling.” He told her. “I mean I wasn’t really looking forward to it but it’s a bit of a blow to the ego you know.”

He finished putting in their pizza order and he was quiet for a few minutes. “To be honest I’ve been feeling this way for a while even before Alex.” He told her. “I’m nearly thirty, I guess I want to start looking at my future with someone instead of just hook ups at the weekend.”

"It'll come, when it is time." Autumn assured softly, moving to sit beside him on the sofa. Wrapping arms around his shoulders to bring him into a hug. "You and I will have a nice evening, and tomorrow... tomorrow I'll help you find someone. When you get home from work, deal?"

The following day, several hours after the sun had set and Kai had been expected home Autumn made her way through the forest in a thick coat, cheeks flush and fingertips red from the cold. In her hand, she gripped her phone tightly, the screen displaying several unanswered calls - having been trying to get through to Kai.

Kai meanwhile had been having a normal day, a murder in the forest but this time it was personal, Kai hadn’t realised that his family were in town and his cousin who loved to wander into the forest had been killed. Kai’s ability to see the dead had caused such a violent reaction that the soul had been pushed back into the body by Kai’s power on for the demon who was after to start an altercation. Unfortunately this just happened to be Damian. And unfortunately with the demon being close to the surface now Lai wasn’t getting off lightly. Damian had all but unleashed he’ll on Kai.

"K- Kai?!" Autumn called, pausing when she heard a commotion several feet ahead. Casting a glance over her shoulder, debating whether she should turn back or not. Making sure her phone was on silent, with a deep breath she approached slowly, almost silently - hiding amongst the trees and peering through the branches as best she could to see what was going on.
