Jace nodded quietly, went as if to say something else and then fell silent again, shoving his hands into his pockets.

"I'll glamour you up as Karl, he's not suspicious and nobody will bat an eyelid to him visiting…" he mused.

"I don't know who Karl is. He isn't already there, is he?"

"Nope, but he said he'd drop in round about now, which is bullshit because he won't be."

"Basically if he shows up I'm screwed?" Jace sounded amused.

"Well as far as I'm aware, he doesn't have a twin, so yeah."

"Who would they believe should he show up after me; the ruse or him?" Jace asked, sounding amused.

"Depends if I could lie good enough for you, but probably him. But he won't turn up."

"If he does, pretend that you didn't know I was lying. I could get myself out easily enough."

"I get caught bringing people into the house and lying about it I'll lose all my outside privileges, so I'm hopin this will run smoothly."

"Don't lie about it. If worst comes to worst, say you thought I was whoever I'm supposed to be posing as. I'll readily admit that I tricked you if I have to."

"Lets just hope it doesn't get that far, mm?"

"Lets hope not. When are you going to put this charm on?"

"When we get close enough, gonna take another ten minute walk yet, we're not going to the place Ray showed you, since that's my moms and my dad's the one who's currently keeping Ray."

"From what I've heard, your dad is one of the biggest dicks on this planet."

"Yeah, you pretty much summed it up. But it's not like other out there don't have worse dads. I have a decent credit card allowance and a decent car and a place to live. I got it better than most people, all of us do. S'why I bitch about Ray, all she ever did was bitch and whine about him and how bad her life was."

"You can have my dad if you want, and see how that is. Though, he's at the bottom of a lake at the moment." Jace looked amused for a brief moment. "From what I've heard, your father is somewhat abusive...? And that he also steals powers."

"He gets Dom to do the power stealing, and only if it's worth it. He's not gonna steal a power that can only let someone colour change, but if he comes across someone with something similar to mine or Rays powers then he'll snap it up. S'all about power, typical bloke really. And he only gets violent if he doesn't get what he wants, not all bad."

"Raine said he'd be interested in mine and that I should avoid the man. I didn't realise that potent healing was that rare." Jace dusted his hands absently together.

"It isn't, but the other thing you can do is. The way you can also - accidentally - hurt people with it. He'd like that, and if he got hold of your power it wouldn't be so accidental."

"Ah. Like the popping of blood vessels in the brain and such. He wouldn't be able to do it so easy. It took me six years to master the flow of energy to do it purposefully but, then again, if he was forceful, he could do it 'accidentally' whenever he wanted considering it's a constant flow of power."

"He wouldn't do it himself, he'd make a lackey take the power just in case it backfired. That's the thing with swapping powers, sometimes bodies just can't take a power and they go poof. Or splat, sometimes even bang..." she mused quietly.

"They really wouldn't want to take mine then. I'm not sure how much I hold in me, but it's a fair amount. It heals me constantly and keeps me numb. It doesn't stop, either. Just keeps going and going. Well, it's a little more complicated, but I'm omitting the details for you."

"He'd probably try experiment with your blood then,"

"Can you even imagine what he'd find in there?" Jace sounded fascinated. "I might go ahead and take blood tests myself one day."
