The Queen Is After Me

"Are you ready to go? I'll carry Danny if he's still too tired."

"Yeah," She confirmed with a nod, getting to her feet, "I'm ready."

(( Can we skip a few months, then she can tell him? Say he's a little more use to contact now, only a little but yeah ^.^))

A few months later (Maybe three?),  April was staring wide-eyes at a text she had just received, sat on the sofa, her face pale.

Keagan and Fleet were in the kitchen, complaining loudly about what was supposed to be for dinner.

Daniel was in the backyard, where he'd made friends with a neighbourhood cat over the past few weeks. He was playing with the cat with a thread he'd pulled from his jumper.

April turned her phone off and put it on the table. Forcing herself to her feet and heading into the kitchen, "I choose what Keag suggests, we had what you wanted yesterday, Fleet,"

"Yes, but I pick the good things, and Keagan picks the boring, healthy options."

"They help with your headaches, don't they?" Keagan responded snidely, digging in the fridge for what he wanted. "Two against one."

"I don't think they're boring, healthy is better anyway. We were unhealthy last night, so tonight we can be healthy." She shrugged before walking to Keagan and brushing her fingertips over his knuckles. "Need to speak to you later on,"

Keagan automatically twisted his hand to lace their fingers together, tugging her hand to his mouth to press a kiss to her knuckles before he gave her her hand back, digging through the fridge again. "Sure. After dinner? Fleet is taking Danny to the woods to get some silence."

Fleet was the one who couldn't get used to it quite yet, flinching gently as if expecting bloodshed and gore whenever they made contact.

"Okay," She whispered quietly, smiling a bit at the kiss and reaching up to brush her fingers through his hair. Glancing over her shoulder when she saw Fleet's flinch and laughing quietly, "Relax, Fleet. It's fine."

"I've watched every other person he's bumped into turn inside out or spontaneously die. I'm understandably wary."

Keagan automatically leaned his head into her touch as he started putting ingredients out on the side.

"I just find it funny that Keag's doing so well with getting used to it and you're flinching all the time still, is all." She hummed before asking Keagan, "So what is it I agreed to eat tonight?"

"Casserole."

"Well, I've lived longer with him. And I don't see it half as much as he does anyway." Fleet sounded indignant.

"Casserole's okay," She hummed, just rolling her eyes a little bit in response to Fleet.

"It's vegetarian though. Danny decided he wants to eat nothing but vegetables for the rest of his life." Keagan started cutting the ingredients up. "Could you fill a largish pot with water, one of you?"

"I had no say in dinner. I'm leaving the kitchen." Fleet threw his hands up and walked to the front room.

"He's so on edge," She mused when Fleet had left, grabbing a pot and doing as asked, handing it to Keagan.  "If we were all normal, I reckon you'd be a chief you know, Keag. You're an amazing cook,"
