Madoc just turned and walked away then, heading toward the den in silence.

"I'm proud of us,"

Abi followed him after a few minutes, their den was a bit of a mess with papers and books everywhere, showing that Abi had been true about researching. "Sorry didn't have time to clean up."

She shrugged as she started to tidy up.

"Abi, leave it, more important things than some books on the floor." He sighed, offering his arms out to her."

She put the books down and she walked to him.

"Well you've been here from the start for our children."

Madoc pulled her down onto into his lap, resting his head on top of hers as he held her close. "What's going through that head of yours?"

"It was never my fault with the others, and they knew it, always made me out to be bad though. Knew I wasn't."

"I'm just worried about you." She told him. "What about you?"

He shrugged. "Thought we weren't going to talk about them anymore."

"I'm not the one that's acting all weird and apologising for everything." Madoc pointed out quietly.

Peyton mumbled a quiet apology, moving away from him then and putting her clothes back on.

"You said you only found out about this condition to it all earlier so, there was nothing else to talk about Abi."

She got changed in silence before leaving the room and heading down into the kitchen.

She nodded. "I know."

He threw his jeans on and he followed her. "What's the matter?"

"I was just taking a moment to be proud of myself, that's all. It wasn't about them, but, but even if it was.." She shook her head, pulling out a bottle of wine from the fridge. "I can't always pretend I don't almost constantly think of them."

"So whats with all this self-critism?"

"You're the one who swore to not talk about them again, and asked me to remind you." He told her. "I know you're proud, and God's know so am I."

"I feel like this isn't what you wanted."

"I know I did, I'm not mad at you." Peyton whispered as she poured herself a glass. "It's just complicated, Dre."

"I mean, it would of changed things but.. but you didn't know until earlier and it's done now so what is the point of sitting around with you all sad, huh?"

"It's the same feelings it's always been, of I had just had the chance with them then maybe... just maybe they would love me. It's so hard, to have children, grandchildren too, that you would die for to keep safe and to them your the epitome of failure and hurt."

"He does have the choice to not complete it you know." Faun told them from where she had been stood in the kitchen doorway eating a bowl of strawberries.

"Every success I have with Geo and Belle is another success I either missed or screwed up somehow with them. I'll never understand it, how they hate me so much for doing things like saving them from gunpoint and.. and literally getting staked for them, telling them that I am there for them and offering them hugs and conversations. Everything Belle and Geo thrive off they hated me for, a- and not just my parenting style but me, on like, a personal level." She mumbled, "And its all good with Belle and Geo now but what if one day they decide that they hate me too? What if I lose this, all of this which is the closest to happy and secure I have ever been?"

"You be what you should be, dead or the wolf forces you to kill something." Faun told him. "For the most part the wolf will fight to stay alive, even if it means killing the closest thing to you, like Abi, but if you fight it long enough you get weaker and weaker and the. Pass away." She told him as she ate another strawberry.

"Will I?" She asked, genuinely. "I've been promised that before. People rarely defend the other parents over their kids."

"So, does it have to be a person or can it just be like... a deer. Because I am fine with that."
