Hope just leaned against him heavily once they were in there, still not liking hospitals.

"She's one of us, except she was turned when she was twenty, rather than born, but I've known her since we moved here and I trust her."

Maisie began to whine and pushed her father away as she wasn't getting all the attention.

"My husbands a little over protective and thinks I should be checked out." Hope said as they approached the receptionists desk. "I'm due in a month or so."

"Okay, I'll see if we have a free midwife."

Cole just nodded hesitantly.

"They'll probably just send us home." Hope mumbled quietly.

"Seems someones spoiled already." Dex chuckled.

"Who's fault is that though, hm?" Astrid asked with a quiet laugh.

"We're a team when she's spoilt but when good things happen you take the glory, is that how it's working?" Astrid teased with a quiet laugh.

Cole just shook his head in response to that.

"I won't let them tell you off,"

Hope just chuckled at that, following the nurse when she gestured for Hope to go into a room and sit on a bed. She took her coat off quietly and laid back with a sigh as she was examined.

"I mean it buddy."

Astrid just hit him across the chest, gently, playfully with a laugh.

Zacarias sat himself down next to the bed.

"Yeah, yeah, I know.."

Dex put his hand to his chest in mock hurt, "Look at what your mummy just did, she's awful!" he laughed to Maisie.

"Go get ready then." Zosia waved him away.

Hope just lay back with a small sigh as the wand was rubbed over her stomach.

"Look how much of a wimp your daddy is, he's soft." Astrid whispered to Maisie with a quiet laugh.

Cole nodded before heading out of the room and into his own.

Zacarias watched.

"Not that I'm aware of, just little twinges here and there." Hope frowned. "Why?"

"Have your waters gone?"

"No, I'm not due for another three weeks or so anyway."

"Well it appears you're in a slow labour..."

"Cole?! Come on!" Zosia called him around an hour later.

"I'm not a wimp!"

"I told you it wasn't normal, Hope, I told you." Zacarias whispered quietly

"I am! I am!" He called, putting water on his hair before heading out of the bathroom and down the stairs to Zosia.

"Yes you are!" Astrid laughed, "You're soft."

Zosia rolled her eyes then and grabbed her bag before heading out.

Hope just frowned deeply. "I'm not due for - "

"Until your waters break you could be in labor for another week or so. All depending."

"Don't turn this into a serious thing," Astrid replied with a small frown, "I was teasing, Dexter... I was only joking."

"Can you give her painkillers? She's in pain." Zacarias whispered quietly.

Cole followed her.

"Well you've always had a problem with how emotional I am." Dex mumbled as he continued the packing.

"Honestly I'm fine Zac. Painkillers could do something to the baby."

Zosia linked her arm with his as they walked.

Zacarias just frowned deeply at that, "You sure? I thought people have painkillers all of the time.."

"No... No, I've never had a problem with it." Astrid replied with a deep frown, "I've never once said that I had a problem with it, I've told you that it's one of the things I appreciate about you, that you're open. I don't have a problem with it, I've never said that."

Cole walked in silence, sighing softly.

Dex said nothing, just packing silently.

"Now you're daddy is being silly, hm, baby?" Astrid hummed, wandering to the bed to put Maisie down so she could catch Dexter's hands. Guiding one of his hands so it was rested on her waist and interlocking her fingers with his on the other. Leaning her forehead forward to press against his, "I love you, Dexter. I love you so much. I don't have a problem with any part of you, I promise, during the argument we had I didn't mean it like you've interpreted it, I meant it that I don't like to see you cry, that I'm tired of me being the reason you cry. Not that I don't like seeing you open with your emotions, rather I don't like it when you sad because you're much too sweet, you make me too happy and you're smile brightens your face up so much that it isn't nice when you cry."

"A week of pain, Hope..."

Cole shook his head in the negative, "Nothing,"

"You know my first girlfriend dumped me because I wasn't sensitive enough, too self obsessed. Then my second and third ones dumped me for being too emotional, too sensitive. I can't fucking win." Dex grumbled.

"A week of pain is worth it, rather that than have some drugs that could screw with our baby."

"The drugs are safe to use, I assure you."

"Not in every situation, and they're not fully guaranteed to have no side effects."
