“You’ll have to make us some thick blankets… and furs. I miss furs when I’m here, I have them at home but in some realms they’ve started modernising enough that fur is going out of fashion even on the bed… so it’s rare I get to sleep with them. I’ve never slept as well as I did when I was a kid on a hay bed with some furs and the fire crackling and hearing the animals snore…”

Thea pouted, hesitating before walking back over to him.

"Furs... can they be faux furs? I don't want to skin anything." Conan grimaced. "I can go to the shop and buy you some fake ones though, that is easily achievable."

Magnus moved beneath the covers, holding them up for her to join him. Repeating another quiet; "I'm sorry."

"No. Your the reason I got attacked in a forest. I'm going..."

He sighed. “I already explained that to you, but I’m not going to stop you, there’s obviously no point.” He told her. “Are we still friends?”

“You’ve never skinned anything? Oh Angel to be a farm hand you gotta get your hands dirty.”

“Where do we stand now then?” Thea asked as she climbed into bed beside him, curling up on the pillows.

"I don't give a shit about reasons. It happened. Why do yiu think that just because there us a reason for it I should get over it? That isn't how people work, Elijah so I don't know what planet you live on."

"But you said I could be the housewife....skinning sounds like your job."

"Where we always have. It isnt a never Thea. It is just a not tonight. I have too much to process."

“I don’t understand what more you want me to do Eve?” He told her. “I don’t know how much I can apologise for what happened, I don’t know how to make it better when all you do is yell scream and sweat at me every chance you get.”

“Where we have always stood is a never… we will forget this happened in the morning then.” Thea murmured, nodding to herself - deciding for her own sanity that’s the way it had to be. Shifting over to be curled into Magnus once more, closing her eyes and settling to sleep.

“No, catching and trapping the stuff is, you have to do the rest. God you were spoiled growing up weren’t you little Prince?” Dagmar snorted. “How many servants were in the palace?”

"Firstly I'm not yelling, if anything I have been mute since it happened. Secondly, I don't want you to do anything. I just want to be left alone.  Stop expecting a 'sorry' to make me feel safe, it isn't how it works."

"Uh... twenty five; not including me." Conan whispered, wrinkling his nose. "They kept me from all of the difficult jobs."

Magnus sighed, leaning his head back to stare at the ceiling.

“I’ll have to make you work extra hard on the farm then. No servants for us.”

Thea was silent against him, almost nodding off before murmuring absently; “I have a really bad feeling they’re going to burn my breakfast in the morning and I hate that I can’t confirm it by forcing a vision…”

Magnus laughed softly, ducking his head to kiss the top of her head tiredly. "Maybe ask them for a yoghurt in the morning instead of something that can be turned to charcoal."

"What? No! I've done my time. I'm royalty, I deserve to be waited on."

“You know I have an actual appetite! Having little stories in my head burns a lot of energy y’know. We can’t all just go suck our breakfast out of someone’s jugular.” Thea laughed softly.

“You’ll have to train the pets to do it.”

Okay fine.” Elijah told her. “Are we still friends?” He asked her after a while.

"That is an appetite! That is worse than an appetite, it feels like your rotting from the inside without it. It tastes of death."

"I will! I taught a dog how to sit on command once, how hard can it be to train them to hunt?"

"After that fucking performance I don't know."

He sighed. “Let me know when you decide.”

"Great first conversation when I finally pluck up the courage to come out of the apartment. I'm going back upstairs." Eve mumbled, turning and heading up.

“It’s very hard because you have to train them not to eat the food they catch.”
