((We wanted to jump ahead a bit and start with that not so random vampire attack, right?))

About a week or so later, Hunter was half leaning against the bottom of a tree not too deep in the forest half falling over, eyes closed and breath shallow as he slipped in and out of consciousness.

Kendrick was cautiously stepped through the forest, his boots crunching against the leaves that lined the floor. Analysing the branches, and trunks he touched in case any bugs lay on them. Calling as he walked, "Hunt? Hey, man... you about?"

"Bamboo cup," Hudson was in the middle of explaining quietly, wiggling a pale beige thermal coffee cup at Sarah as they stood in a line for their drinks. "I don't trust it, the plastic and cardboard things they give out. I see the staff wash their hands, they aren't very good at it."

Hunter's eyes flickered open for the briefest moment when he thought he heard someone, instinctively slumping down further and closing his eyes again. If it was the guy that had attacked him, he didn't want him to know he was still somewhat aware of things.

Sarah groaned quietly but in the most playful way, shaking her head at him. "You don't trust anything. I'm still here and I drink their coffee nearly every day."

"Hu-" Kendrick began to call once again, eyes widening when he came across him. Arms wrapping around his torso, beneath his arms just as he slumped to keep him from hitting the floor. "Shit, man. Hunter..."

"More luck than judgement."

Kendrick caught him just as he slipped unconscious again, his breath barely audible and his heartbeat very slow, eyes closed once again.

"I'll take luck being on my side any day."

"Luck runs out," Hudson frowned.

"Shit, shit..." He mumbled, moving to sit on the floor with him. Arm wrapped around his shoulder to keep him against him. Pulling Hunter's phone from his pocket and clicking on Cassie's name.

"Don't jinx me," she frowned right back at him.

Hunter slumped against him.

Seeing the number, Cass picked up on the second ring. "Well if it isn't my wonderful grandson, to what do I owe the pleasure?"

"N- no, no it isn't. We were meant to meet b- but he didn't show so I went looking and..." Kendrick swallowed. "He is barely breathing. I don't have a clue where I am so I - what use is there in calling am ambulance?" Trembling he gently rested his chin on top of his head, closing his eyes to try and listen to Hunter's breathing.

"You need to be more cautious, that's all."

"I'm plenty cautious, Hudson," she muttered, frowning a little.

"Okay, easy now. Take a breath and tell me roughly where you are and I'll come get you," she told him calmly, nudging Connor lightly as she put the phone on speaker so he could hear the call also.

"Mm, no. No you don't understand something doesn't feel right today."

"Somewhere in the forest, somewhere... I walked for five minutes, from the main town. The church on the corner."

"Stay with him, try to keep him awake if you can, breathing. I'm on my way." She already had her shoes on and was explaining it to Connor as she was walking out the door.

"Bad feeling?"

"No one has been hurt in years," Connor mumbled as he followed Cassie out of the house. "I don't understand."

Kendrick gulped, placing the phone to the side and gently shaking Hunter. "Hunt.. wake up. Help is on the way, you need to wake up though."

"Yeah... just - I think I need to go and find Hunter."

"I don't know, Con.. I don't know.. but this doesn't sound right. I don't like it." Cassie mumbled, her pace quickening.

"Alright, we're next. Let's get our coffee and then we can go find him, okay?"

Hunter groaned quietly, his eyes fluttering slightly but not opening all the way.

"That's it, man. That's it. Missing a decent fucking sandwich for you so the least you can do is be awake to explain why."

"Hopefully he has just fallen, gotten drunk. You know what Hunter is like."

He nodded.

He mumbled something completely unintelligible.

"Maybe he's drinking with Kendrick or something. Do you want me to call them?"

Once they reached the forest she took off running.

"Call them? I - yeah.. let's call them."

Connor followed, only steps behind.

"What happened, Hunt?" Kendrick repeated the question, finally thinking to look him over for injury.

She pulled out her phone and quickly scanned her contact list for Hunter's name, calling him first.

"Vampire.." he mumbled, his voice barely audible. The only injuries Kendrick would find were the bite marks on his neck and bruises from being grabbed.

"Vampire? Oh don't start with all of that shit again..." He began to dismiss, though cut off when his eyes found the bite mark on his neck. Trembling hand reaching to answer Hunter'sxphone wiryout even looking, "Hello?"

Hunter didn't respond having shut his eyes again.

"Hunter?.. no, Kendrick? Why do you have his phone? Is everything okay? Hudson is looking for Hunt, do you know where he is?" Sarah asked softly as she stepped up in line to order her specialty coffee.

Cassie came to a skidded stop right beside Kendrick and dropped to her knees near the boys. "What's happened?"

"He was - he said he was bitten. A vampire? I - I don't know. Lost his mind, he always thinks they're real. He said that you were on-" Kendrick half spoke to the phone, half to Cassie before he cut off, eyes widening as he took in Cassie. "He said his grandmother was one bu- Sorry, I thought you were his grandmother but your far too young."

"K- Kendrick has answered, not him?"

Sarah's eyes went wide as she heard what Kendrick was saying even though he wasn't a believer. "Where are you? What's happening? Kendrick?" She nodded in response to Hudson, quickly paying the bill and taking her coffee with a whispered 'thanks'. "We should go, Hudson."

Cassie smiled softly at Kendrick's words. "I'm his grandmother and this is his grandfather, Connor. What's this about a vampire?"

"No your not, you can't be. Your like the same.. the same age as us." Kendrick shook his head, trembling hand moving to guide Hunter's head to the side and reveal the mark. Directing down the phone quietly, "I don't know. Somewhere - somewhere in the forest. Help is - help is here."

Hudson put his cup into the rucksack he carried with him and hurried out of the shop. Only half a pace before running.

"Help?.. who?.. " Sarah was confused but didn't have to much time to focus on that as she quickly followed Hudson out of the shop.

(We still want one of them to get attacked?)

"I am, I'll explain later if you like," she hummed quietly, lightly tapping Hunter's cheek. "Con.. there hasn't been an attack around here in years.."
