"I don't know." Kendrick mumbled down the phone. "I- I have to go."

"'It is something to sort out later, once we know he is well." Connor whispered. "Lets get him home."

"Where are we going? Where did he say to go?"

"We're coming," she replied, hanging up. "He said they were in the forest but help was there. I'm pretty sure I heard your grandparents an-and.. he said Hunter was talking about.. vampires."

Cassie nodded. "Okay, up you go.." she hummed softly, slipping an arm under Hunter's shoulders to lift him to his feet. "You may want to come with us," she directed towards Kendrick.

Connor grabbed his grandsons other arm, supporting him from the otherside.

Kendrick nodded, getting to his feet and walking after them.

"Vamp - vampires attacked Hunt?" He gulped. "We need to get there.... we - we need to.. "

Cassie helped him bring Hunter back to their home.

"I'm not positive.. he just said Hunter was going on about them."

"Shit.."

Kendrick followed.

"Where are we meant to go? Should we go try to find them?.."

Cassie kept her strides quick and even to get them back to the house

"That's what we're doing."

"I mean-.. well nevermind.. let's just find them."

When they reached the house, Cassie opened the front door and lead them all inside.

"On the spare bed." Connor hummed, gently easing Hunter down onto it. "We need to work out if this was a bite to turn, or to kill."

Kendrick followed, colour drained from his face like a ghost. Stopping at Hunter's bedside.

Cassie nodded, settling Hunter down as her eyes roamed over their grandson once more. "Did he say anything else to you? How was he when you found him?.."

Sarah headed towards the forest remembering that Kendrick had said that's where he had been.

"Uh walking... stu - stumbling. I think he tried to hide when he heard me coming." Kendrick stammered, reaching his hand forward to rest it over Hunter's and squeeze.

"A hunt then... whoever it was, was hunting him."

Cassie frowned deeply. "They knew who he was then," she agreed. "Or our family?"

Hunter's eyes flickered open when Kendrick took his hand.

"Hey, your alright. You're safe." Kendrick greeted quietly. Swallowing when Connor moved from the room, and gently beaconed for Cassie to follow so they could have privacy.

"Maybe the family, maybe not. He smells human, looks human. He is, for all intents and purposes. This person could have just been having a normal hunt, playing with pray."

Cassie followed him quietly from the room. "It's a possibility, but either way I don't like it. We haven't even had a drifter passing through in awhile around here."

He stared around the room with wide eyes, almost like he didn't see or hear Kendrick at first until his gaze fell upon him. Hunter's and slowly but instinctively tightened around his friends.

He patted the top of his hand gently, offering a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. "Your safe."

"I'll text Drake, Cain... make sure they keep an eye out."

She nodded. "I'll text Serena and Amanda.. make sure everyone knows what's happening."

"Kenny?.." he murmured.

"Hey, dickhead." He swallowed. "So uh.. you weren't... the vampire thing really wasn't a joke, huh?"

"Get them out looking for Hudson too,"

Cassie nodded. "I'm on it."

"Told you so.." he whispered, his voice still quiet and tired.

"That's terrifying." Kendrick swallowed

He barely nodded, closing his eyes again. "I've been trying to tell you that.."

"You can't blame me for thinking it was a joke..." He mumbled, eyes going back to their hands, staring at them quietly

Hunter hadn't seemed to notice their hands yet, or if he had he wasn't going to say anything. "No, but I don't lie.. not about that."

"You would, if you were like me. If you didn't know it was all really. People always make jokes about shit like that."

"Mm', I know.. but now you know the truth."

"I don't know if..." He gulped. "Why was it after you?"
