"Like I said earlier, your sister is never going to grow up Jean-Claude, she's stuck at fifteen, if she feels like she is ready, then she is ready."

Genevieve made a soft, almost cute, snuffling noise as she absently moved her head towards his hand.

Jean-Claude sighed as he stopped outside of the bedroom. "I'm never going to see her as anything but my younger sister. I can't imagine her as a mother."

"You know, my brother thought the same about me when I found out that we were having Lloyd."

He smiled watching her.

"It's what brothers do." Jean-Claude sighed and then knocked on the door.

Genevieve stirred slightly at the knock but didn't wake up.

"I noticed."

Jared answered the door. "No offence meant, but can you come back later? I just got her to sleep so that she could just concentrate on healing."

"Its just for a few moments. I'm sure she can spare a minute of being awake."

"If she ends up biting me or something, it's your fault." He left the door open and he walked to sit on the edge of the bed and he gently shook her shoulder.

Genevieve shook her head weakly with a whine as she buried her face into the pillow, trying to hide herself because she didn't want to get up.

"Genevieve get up or I'm going to have to do something that you won't like."

Genevieve made a protesting wheezing sort of noise, not able to make anything louder than that.

Jean-Claude had winced at the rough sound Genevieve had forced from her throat.

"Come on baby, sit up." He helped her to sit up. "Your brother wants to talk to you."

I don't wanna talk to him... Genevieve complained to him, dragging the pillow with her to cover her head.

Jean-Claude sighed, reaching out as if to snatch the pillow away.

"Hopefully he wants to apologise."

When has he ever apologised? Genevieve sounded miserable as Jean-Claude tugged her pillow away.

"Just let him say his piece."

Genevieve hunched her shoulders but stayed sat, accepting the pillow when Jean-Claude gave it to her, and she hugged it to her chest. She flinched when Jean-Claude spoke.

"You're pregnant."

Jared looked at him, before he looked back Genevieve. "Let me be your spokesperson ok? So if you want to tell him anything, tell me and I will pass the message."

"There's not much to talk about; she's getting rid of it, obviously."

Genevieve flinched, gripping tightly onto the pillow in her lap as she stared at her hands.

"I don't even need to translate that reaction for you."

"It's the logical route to go. She isn't ready - the both of you aren't ready - to have children."

How does he know that?! Genevieve sounded upset, starting to pull feathers out of the pillow with her anxiety.

"She asked how do you know that." He looked at her. "Are you ready?"

"She's young. There's no way she is possibly ready to be a mother when she's still a child herself."

I think I'm ready. And I'm not so much of a child. He forgets what I've been through.

Jared ignored Jean-Claude and he kept looking at Genevieve. "That doesn't sound very convincing Geneveive."

Genevieve bristled, arms folding over her stomach under the pillow. I'll never know if I'm ready unless I go through with it. If you don't agree with my choice, that's fine, I'll raise this child by myself. I can only learn through experience. This life isn't for Jean-Claude to take. It's mine to take care of. she hunched herself over slightly, as if protecting her stomach with the rest of her body.
