"I'm pretty sure your brother probably wanted to kill me at some point. I wouldn't be surprised if he still does. But so long as Genevieve lives under my roof, I have an obligation to look after her to the best of my ability with no excuses."

"I'm not saying that you don't but even my brother knew when to let mw grow up, you need to do the same."

"Hey there kiddo, what've you been up to lately then, hmm?" Jean-Claude asked quietly, moving his hands to steady Lloyd on his lap.

"Mummy taught me how to read."

He kept his hands on her waist.

"Did she? How well can you read then, hmm?"

Genevieve broke the kiss after a few more moments to catch her breath.

He got off his lap and walked to the the table by the fire and he picked up a small book. "First part." He told him, putting the book on his lap.

He moved to gently kiss her neck.

"Are you going to read to me?" Jean-Claude asked, making himself sound excited for it.

Genevieve tilted her head over for him, fingers twitching gently in his hair.

He nodded and he moved to sit back on his father's lap, putting the book on his own lap.

Jean-Claude wrapped his arms gently around him, holding him close to his lap.

"I hope so."

Lloyd started reading.

"Of course I do." Genevieve tugged gently on his hair to move him slightly so she could duck her head to quickly kiss him.

Jean-Claude watched him, a soft proud smile on his face.

Coraline sat on the chair opposite them.

"You're leaning quick, aren't you?" Jean-Claude said, gently ruffling his hair.

Genevieve pulled away, nuzzling her cheek gently against his for a moment before relaxing against the pillows.

He nodded. "I'm learning to read so I can read to my baby brother or sister."

He kissed her forehead.

"Well, your mother and I will help you along the way." Jean-Claude kissed the top of his head. "You're doing very well."
