Barrett nodded jerkily carefully taking the notebook back before scribbling,

She has all symptoms. Bruising. Dizziness. Tiredness. Weak immunity. Blood count is lower than should be. Cancer shows distinct signs. Caused by testing?

Citlali looked lost, hugging herself gently as she stared after Alex, clearly thinking she had done something wrong.

"You don't have to wait for me if you don't want to, you can go to your own room instead or something."

"He lost his brother to Lukemia." She sighed. "This is going to break him." She looked at Citlali. "Go after him."

"W-What did I do wrong?" Citlali asked, rubbing her arms softly as she shuffled on the spot, on the verge of tears. "Would he want to see me? W-What's l-luke thing?"

Chiquita nodded, walking back over to the bed to lean down and quickly kiss him.

"C-Cancer?" Citlali sounded a little confused still. "S-Steel gets it all the time but he's fine, w-why is Alex upset?"

Chiquita seemed reluctant to break the kiss, holding her clothes to her chest before she softly sighed and leaned back.

"A-And that's going to happen to me?" Citlali curled her hands nervously by her throat, tugging at the collar of her shirt.

"I'll be back out in about twenty minutes then," Chiquita mumbled, stepping back before turning to walk to the en suite.

Chiquita came out after about fifteen minutes, dressed and dragging her hands through her hair to dry it with the heat of her skin.

Citlali couldn't find him at first, as he wasn't anywhere she would normally see him. After about half an hour, she went to her room and curled up on her bed where she could press against the corner, holding her hand against her mouth as if trying not to cry.

Chiquita moved to brush her hair carefully before walking over and standing by the bed, looking down at him. "What we gonna do then?"

After a while Citlali decided to get up to go for a run to clear her head and calm down, making her way downstairs. She had just slipped out the front door, making it a few feet down the pathway before she stumbled and was forced to her knees as the dizziness hit her again.

Citlali wheezed softly before she shuffled around to simply sit with her knees to her chest.

Chiquita held her hands on her hips, humming absently in thought.

He sat up from where he had been lying in the snow and hr wiped a few tears that had suddenly appeared.

He sat up slightly.

"Citlali...?" Ranger asked softly - he'd been to the village and had seen her while walking up the path. "What happened...?"

Citlali just shrugged, shoulders hunching as she leaned over, trying to make herself smaller.

"Well, I'm not going to have another fit for a few days..."

Alex told him what had happened when he got to them.

"Citlali!" Ranger sounded a mix of angry and dismayed. "Why didn't you tell me?" he moved to tightly grip her arm and she immediately tugged away with a soft wince as she muttered, "I din't know 'til today. Dunno what it is. Just upsets everyone." Her arm was already beginning to bruise.

"This isn't something you keep to yourself though!"

"I only found out today!" Citlali repeated, stumbling to her feet and looking as if she was about to cry. Ranger slowly rose to meet her.

"Just upsets everyone," Citlali mumbled to herself. "Don't really know what it does anyway." She jerked back a step when Ranger reached out for her and glanced at the path past him, as if debating whether to run for it.

"I've hardly had free time to do anything before so I'm at a loss..."

Citlali flinched and mumbled something to herself again, vaguely along the lines of not being wanted because she wasn't right any more.
