The Vampire Diaries

Mia just mumbled incoherently under her breath, getting to her feet and walking out into the front garden.

Caleb yawns then and went back to doing what he was doing earlier.

Evalynn had remained up in the tree still reading from her book.

"Eve? Come down here a minute?"

((Gah I'm confused...is it Evalynn or Evelynn?))

She sighed softly finishing the page in her book and closing it before jumping down from the tree. "Yes?"

Mia sat herself down cross-legged on the grass, pulling her daughter down beside her in silence.

Evelynn sat beside her quietly just looking at her in confusion.

"You know how much your grandmother loved you, hm?" Mia asked her gently.

She slowly nodded her head wondering what was happening.

"And Sarai loves you a lot too, you know that?" Mia asked.

"What's happened?" she asked quietly looking up at her.

"They died, sweetheart." Mia whispered shakily, "First Sarai because she was awfully ill and then your grandmother because giving birth to your Auntie Hope's baby took too much out of her."

At first Evelynn was silent only looking at her mother for a long time. She looked around a moment before asking "Will they come back?"

"I hope so... the witches aren't being kind recently though. We've had to turn to another kind of witch and the only way to contact the one we know is through Violet and we can't contact her..."

She played with the hem of her shirt for a moment in thought. "But Sarai isn't sick anymore now right? And grandma isn't hurt now from the baby...is the baby okay?"

"Yeah," She whispered, "None of them are hurting, and the baby - your new little cousin, is just fine."

"It's a girl right? The new baby?" she asked gently glancing around a moment.

Mia nodded in response to that, "Yeah," she whispered, hugging Evelynn gently.

Evelynn hugged her back.

Mia kissed the side of her head as she added, "So, when we go home people'll be a bit down in the dumps. It might not be too nice... if you want to stay for your dad here a little longer, I'll understand, y'know."

"Everyone needs family. You'll be isolating yourself mum."

"The family don't let me grieve. It's impossible to grieve when they're so dead set on not focusing on the loss. I need grieving space."

Adam smiled at that.

"It hurts more knowing that, that they might be right next to her."

Hope smiled and curled up against Zacarias. "It sounds awful to say... But things feel almost perfect."

"Nah uh. I need to go see everyone, help them all feel better. Like Lucas, is he alright?" she asked gently thinking of everyone else but herself right now. "Oh and Hope, she must be really upset too.."

"Mm, it's not too awful. Your mother would understand entirely you saying that, we've waited so long for this, so long to have our own little bundle of joy and here she is and here we are and we're our own little family.  The three of us and we're perfect."

"It's a full moon tonight, isn't it?" Astrid asked quietly, "Where do you go, anyway? To shift?"

"Hurts less thinking that they have each other though, hm? That they aren't alone." Klaus whispered quietly in response to that, jumping when one of Lucas' photos fell off of the bedside counter.

"I done it again! So if I try really really hard I might be able to hug one of 'em!" Sarai declared cheerfully on the Other Side, looking over her shoulder at her mother.

Leon just pressed his lips to the side of Vanessa's head gently

"Luc isn't too good no," Mia whispered with a shake of her head, "You know how close him and Sarai were, as for Hope.. She's upset but I think she's just trying to focus on her baby to help get her through it."

Evelynn gave a nod of her head. "Can I go see Luc momma?"

"Yeah, yeah... we'll head home now, yeah?"

"Yeah. Does daddy know what's happened?" she asked getting to her feet.
