Tatia had gone round the side and wedged herself between food storage baskets before sobbing her heart out into her hands.

"One of many I hope. And it seems to have solved our problem too."

When he found her, he squeezed into the small gap beside her and just pulled her into a hug. Smoothing her hair down and whispering, "Don't cry, love. You're strong, you'll be okay. Everything will be fine."

Alfdis frowned deeply, replying, "I can not help that, you know I can't."

Esther nodded in agreement.

"I am the eldest son of the earl now! When he dies it shall pass onto me! If you let me claim my children as my own then when I died, Malvolio would be earl. They would never want for anything! And your poor husband won't have to raise another mans children."

Tatia just shook her head.

---

Mikael kissed her softly.

"I know." Klaus whispered with a sigh, "I know your scared, but you are strong. Stronger than you think you are. You will be okay, I swear it, eventually you will be." he promised before growing silent and just holding her close.

Esther returned it gently.

"Bjorn doesn't need to know of our mistake, though congratulations." Alfdis whispered, "If that is all that is troubling you, something which I can not help you with, may I return to my husband?"

"How can he not suspect anything Alfdis?! You two were married for years and you never fell pregnant! And then he goes away for a year and returns and you've had two babies, who you claim are around four moons old, though they look to only be around a moon old! How can he not suspect they're not his?!"

"He appears to be a loving husband, but I don't wish to leave my mother so soon. I don't want to leave you Niklaus, my greatest friend! And his last wife died giving birth! What if that is to be my fate? Or I cannot give him sons so he - " Tatia whispered, cutting herself off with a sob.

"Tonight... We will sleep in the best bed you've ever seen my love, no more sleeping on the floor."

"Mm, that sounds very nice." Esther replied with a nod, laughing gently.

"He trusts my word." Alfdis replied calmly, "We're in love with each other, so he trusts me." Sighing she lifted her hand up to rest on Finn's cheek, "I'm sorry, Finn."

Klaus shook his head, "I will still be here, you can still come to me when you need me. We'll still talk. Don't be scared, don't fear." he soothed.

"And our children won't have to share rags. They can have beds to share instead."

"You weren't so in love with him you didn't want me." Fin whispered as he rested his hand on her cheek and leaned down to kiss her.

"Niklaus I'm scared I'll die... Having children is so dangerous and that's all he'll want and what if I die?"

Alfdis didn't kiss him back, though didn't pull away either. Her fingertips resting against his cheek before she pulled away and let her hand drop. Whispering another apology before turning and heading back inside.

"It will be wonderful."

"You won't die. You won't..." Klaus soothed as he tightened his arms around her slightly, "Don't worry, you won't die."

"It was supposed to be you! You're my best friend it was supposed to be you Nik... Not him."

"Maybe the kids will show some appreciation too."

"They're mine! My children!" Finn hissed in rage after her.

"That is asking for a lot," Esther pointed out gently.

Alfdis just glared at him over her shoulder at how loud he was being, shaking her head before ducking it and continuing to walk. Soon siting herself down beside Bjorn and pressing her lips to his.

Klaus just nodded, repeating, in a quieter tone, "I know ."

"I can trust you to be gentle and kind. I don't know if I can trust this man to be what you are."

"No it's not."

---

Bjorn kissed her back deeply/

Alfdis relaxed into him, lifting her hand to knot her fingers in his hair as she kissed him back.

"From them it is,"

"I know," Klaus sighed, "I know."

"I wed him tomorrow..."

Bjorn pulled away and kissed her forehead.

"It shouldn't be."

Klaus tensed at that, shaking his head and whispering, "Let me kiss you one more time before you marry?"

"I love you Bjorn." Alfdis whispered gently.

"I know,"

Tatia turned her head and pressed her lips to his chastely.

"I love you too, my Alfdis."

---

"It'll be easier now to find matches for them, marry them off. That should please them."

He kissed her back gently, whispering, "We will not stop talking because of this, I will still be here for you, Tatia. I'll always be here for you."

"I miss you greatly every time you need to leave," Alfdis whispered.

"Everything will be easier from now on," Esther agreed, adding, "I never doubted you would lose for a moment during the fight."

Tatia rested her head on his shoulder and leaned against him heavily. "You're all I have now. My parents have practically sold me to this man... Please don't come tomorrow. I'd cry if I see you there, see the possibilities we've lost. I don't want to see you upset."

"Neither did I; he wasn't as great nor as trained as I am."

"I miss you too my love, I miss you all."

"Are you ever unfaithful while you are away?" Alfdis asked almost silently.

"I want to be there to offer you support, though." Klaus whispered.

"No man here is," Esther replied with a gentle laugh.

"No, never!" Bjorn replied, taken aback. "Never Alfdis. I desire no woman but you no matter how lonely I get. The others do, aside from Mikael. But we never see th need to seek other women when we know our own faithful companions are waiting for us at home."

"It'll make me cry if I see you and that won't please my new husband or father... If I saw you of want to run to you and beg you to take me away from the madness."

Mikael chuckled, kissing her cheek.

Alfdis was silent for a few moments, lifting her gaze to study his face before smiling gently and whispering a soft, "I believe you, though I wouldn't of been angered if you had answered otherwise."

"One day I will take you away," Klaus whispered before sighing and whispering, "If you're sure you do not want me there."

Esther smiled.

"I feel no need to go to other women. You have loved me truly and faithfully for so many years. We have two miracle children from the gods after years of trying to conceive. We are meant to be together, you and I, and I wouldn't let another woman in my bed for anything."

"I don't. Couldn't bare you to see me like that." Tatia whispered before pressing her lips to his deeply for their first proper kiss, moving her hands into his hair to bring him closer.

Mikael took her hand and looked over everyone, frowning when he noticed who was missing. "Elijah, go find Niklaus."

Klaus closed his eyes, suprised by the intensity of it though he didn't move away. Leaning towards it and then kissing her back deeper as he moved his arm around her waist to tug her closer, lifting his hand up to tangle his fingers in her hair.

"Yes father " Elijah nodded, getting to his feet and heading out.

Alfdis smiled a little wider at that, pressing her lips to his.

"I don't need to ask you to know if you ever been unfaithful because I know you wouldn't be." Bjorn whispered before kissing her back.

Tatia made a small noise of content, pressing herself against him.

"If Niklaus is with that wench I'll beat him bloody."
