"Mm, we should prepare in case they can't though." Ronan whispered.

Bella nodded, taking his hand and kissing his cheek gently.

Ronan offered her a small smile, glancing over his shoulder as Reid made his way out of the room. "Hey, Astrid is ready to see you."

"Do you know if the baby is okay?"

“Astrid didn’t tell me that it wasn’t... she didn’t really say much at all though. She sent Altair and me away... but I’m sure everything is fine.”

Reid swallowed thickly, visibly nervous. Shaking his head and whispering, "I need to find out. Where is she?"

“Just down the hall, third door on your right.”

Astrid lay on the bed with her eyes closed, dozing from the strong medication she’d been given. There was a band around her stomach to monitor the babies heartbeat which was connected up to one machine, a seperate device on her finger for her own. The flood had been cleared from her wounds, though the black eye remained along with a few other deep scratches.

Reid nodded, knocking lightly as he wandered into the room. Closing the door behind himself, glancing up and letting out a shaky sigh when he noticed the baby's heart. Slowly making his way over to her bedside and resting his hand on top of hers.

“Hi…” Astrid murmured as she opened her eyes, taking his hand and squeezing gently. “You okay?”

"Just a few stitches. They want me to make Ronan keep an eye on me tonight because because the concussion. I am worried about you, and baby." Reid whispered, lifting her hand up to kiss her fingers. "Are you okay?"

“I’m okay... he’s okay.” Astrid pushed herself to a sitting position, shifting so he had space to sit on the bed with her. “They slipped up when checking him over..”

"He... I... wow." Reid whispered, sitting himself down on the bed beside her and slipping his arms around her.

“So I’m thinking Levi Langstead.” Astrid teased quietly as she leaned into him.

"I... actually like that, y'know." Reid whispered, resting his head on top of hers as he held her close.

Astrid laughed quietly, the noise quickly turning into sobs as she moved a hand to cover her mouth, trying to stifle the sound

Reid frowned, whispering a simple, "I know." as he tightened his arms around his and kissed the top of her head.

“When do we get to feel safe? We just moved in... I can’t go back there now.”

"I- I'm sure we can stay with Ro and Bells for awhile. Until we are ready."

“Nobody’s going to trust us with our own kid if we can’t cope with ourselves are they?”

"No... so we uh... we have to try and prove them wrong? At least when they are around. We can drop the act around each other."

“I can’t even drink to get through it this time…”

"We- we can do it. We have to try and believe that we can do it. For our son.."

“I’m scared, Reid.”

"I am too," He whispered with a grimacing, knowing that wasn't the most comforting response. "Bells said there is security everywhere here, with uh... with Maddox's wife in here, she got shot. They were aiming for Maddox, missed."

“So we’re all being targeted again...”

"It uh... it sounds like it, yeah."
