Wren fell silent then, trembling ever so slightly as she squeezed her eyes shut to stop herself crying.

Tobias nodded, kissing her briefly before heading into the living room.

Logan briefly glanced over at Tobias, tensing slightly as he watched him closely.

“Hey buddy… my friend Joe needs his dinner.” Tobias gestured over to the vivarium. “Wanna help?”

“Shh, let me fuss over you. It’s usually me needing to be a cockroach.” Karsi whispered. “Love you so much.”

“I’m scared if I get sent away I don’t come back. Some people spend their lives in those places and I’m scared I’ll be one of them.”

Logan followed his motion, swallowing thickly before giving a slight nod and getting to his feet. Fiddling with his bracelet, wiggling it around his wrist in circles, as he made his way over to the vivarium.

"No. No, nothing like that will ever happen to you." Cain promised. "It's just like a hospital, just like this. You walk out of here every time don't you."

"Come here properly so I can hug you then." Louis encouraged quietly.

Karsi moved to sit next to him then, curling into his side.

“Do you think I need to go?” Wren asked, voice thick as she tried to not cry. “Honestly?”

“Joe likes to eat bugs, gross isn’t it?” Tobias hummed as he crouched down to the set of shelves under the tank and pulled out a box of dead crickets. “Reckon you’re brave enough to give one of these to him?”

"I uh... I..." Cain grimaced, lifting his hand up to scratch the back of his head. Answering nervously, evasive, "I don't think it will do you any harm to at least try it. I mean... Uncle Ronan went in, Mom, Uncle Cal, Astrid, Grayson, Uncle Dane - they're all okay now. It isn't... it isn't taboo in our family."

"I like bugs. Bugs aren't scary." Logan whispered, going to reach into the box but pausing before he touched any. "How many does he have?"

Louis wrapped his arms around her.

“If you take ten and give him those, if he eats them all quickly I give him another five, if he doesn’t then I just leave him to it.” Tobias hummed as he opened the top of the tank, gently tapping the top of a wooden bridge until Joe came out from under it.

Logan nodded, quietly dropping one of the bugs in and leaning in to watch the lizard closely. Smiling brightly when he ate the creature, "His tongue is funny."

"Lose me? Never."

maybe Grayson and Kaya? As he was down last we played them ))

“If you’d hit your head a bit harder I could’ve done… lots of tlc for you when I get you home.”

“It’s very quick isn’t it? I wish my hands were that quick when grabbing food so I got to it first.” Tobias grinned

Logan shook his head, "Mason always got the best bits first for me. I always got the best bits, he was super good at...." he grimaced, stopping himself from talking and going quiet again. Grabbing another cricket and dropping it in.

"Oh no. Not too much fuss Karsi. We have to look after Logan, and we'll be dealing with Wren. No time for me."

"You'll be fine, Wren. I promise."

"Surprise." Kaya hummed as she poked her head into Grayson's office in one of the main work buildings, slipping into the room with a small bag in her hands and using her foot to close the door behind herself.

“I can do both, I’m super woman.”

“Kaya, hi.” Grayson greeted in surprised as he looked up from his desk.

"Okay. Good." Cain hummed, offering her a hopeful grin. "You'll be as right as rain before you know it."

"Close everything down, I've got your schedule cleared until next week - we have a flight to catch." Kaya hummed.

"Lots of people go in and out, not many are so unwanted we get shoved onto the street." Logan whispered. "He never let me be on the street. He'd always find me somewhere, church... a strangers couch. Anything."

“Last chance saloon isn’t it so… I really hope so Cainy.”

“I’m thinking about asking your dad to move back in for a bit. Help out with the kids whilst we get back on top of things. Just for a few weeks till we’ve got a handle.”

“You’ve done what? Where? How?” Grayson asked in quick succession.

“He sounds like a really good person to have on your side. I bet you miss him like crazy mm?”

"What? Cleared your schedule. Where? Italy. How? I don't know... on the computer, I know - well done me." Kaya hummed with a grin, pulling a small journal from the bag and offering it out to him. "This is just the first trip. You and I are going to go where you and Sienna went, you are going to write down your feelings or... your favourite memory you had with her when we are there and at the end of the trip you can either burn it so it can join her or you can keep it - for you to read in the future, remind yourself."

Cain sighed then, just hugging her tightly.

"I- yeah. Yeah it'd be nice to have him around a big more again, I suppose. So long as he behaves himself."

"They say people are your soulmate with like gross stuff, but it isn't always that is it? Soulmate just means someone who keeps your soul safe. He was mine and now he's gone... now part of me is gone too, and it'll never come back."

Grayson fell silent then, turning the notebook over and over in his hands, swallowing thickly.

"It's time to get away from these awful walls, this claustrophobic city that hold mostly bad memories and trade it in for some of the places you and her had the best time of your lives. It's time to remember the good times you had together, not the horrible way she was torn away from you too soon. So, I- I'm going to give you five minutes to close everything down and I'll be waiting in the car for you. We're leaving right now, I've already packed the bags."

"I will, as long as your there to watch me."

"There was so much blood..."

Tesni quietly leant in the doorway, watching them closely.

Louis nodded. "Of course it will. I don't feel I've spent enough time with him since he... magically appeared. Life has been too busy."

“We start this healing together as a family, Wren, Logan, you, your dad. Get us all in a good place to cheer Cain on when he needs us most. We can do this.”

“What about the girls?” Grayson asked quietly then, looking up and setting his hand on the table to stop the shaking.

“I promise.”

“I bet there was… it happens. Life can be so shitty sometimes kiddo. And I always thought it wouldn’t get better. It seemed like every time I managed to feel a tiny bit better something kept coming and sweeping me off my feet. It’s hard finding your balance isn’t it?”

"I- I know this isn't going to be easy, it won't be a full-on partying holiday but among the emotional moments it will be nice too. You'll have me to lean on, you'll have to show me all your favourite places."

"He made me promise to be a good person... what if I can't be? What if I let him down? I don't- I don't know how to be good, or - or happy. I don't know anything."

Louis nodded.

"Great." Cain grinned.

“I think about the fact that if I sat around, moping my entire life - I’m wasting what he never had, y’know? I honour him by getting up and living my life. It’s okay to have bad days, bad weeks of course. But I couldn’t sit on my ass and mope my entire life. Couldnt waste my life when he had his taken away. Mason wouldn’t want you to waste your life being sad over him. He’d want you to get up every morning, be thankful you can wake up at all, and seize the day for yourself.”

“I can’t wait for the vacation at the end of it all. I’m thinking a nice Spanish island mm?”

“Doesn’t feel like it… but it’s always felt like you’ve got me. The best brother.”

“I don’t… I don’t know if I can see those places without her.”
